Lee College - ADN Program - Fall 2017

Published

Hello, are there any applicants for the Fall 2017 ADN Program at Lee College in Baytown, TX? If so, what step in the application process are you currently in? Currently I am awaiting the arrival of my Blue Card, but have successfully turned in my application on January 5th and successfully tested for the HESI the first week of March. I am curious as to when the nursing office begins calling people back regarding acceptance into the program?

P.S. if anyone has any questions regarding the HESI A2 exam, feel free to ask me about any concerns you may have. I just took it, and passed it with an overall 90%. I have plenty of tips and information I could share regarding the HESI.

Wow Mrsmaynard, RN, that's horrible, happy they have resubmitted for you! Will you be doing the transition or generic program? I have lots of questions about the application process. I've waited all this time letting my nerves get the best of me now I'm terrified I've waited too long. What all had to be done prior to the deadline? Does the blue card have to be in prior to the deadline? I was going to wait to turn it in next week but I'm thinking I better go ahead and go this week. I just didn't want to have to make more than one trip as I don't live in the area. Thank you!

Tay1985,

I am applying for the generic ADN/ RN- I see that you are applying for the transition (congrats on already accomplishing so much!) If you read in the handbook, it makes it all seem very complicated, but the only thing that is required to apply is the application, your transcripts (sealed if from other schools), and your immunizations. For the transition, you will also need a current/ valid license to practice in the state of Texas. The blue card is not required to apply (it is required after acceptance, and before the beginning of August)- so turn that application in ASAP! Also I will give you this advice: Do something that will get you noticed! Not a song and dance or anything, but just something memorable (I wore a red button-down shirt and did "pin-up" girl hairstyle). Red catches people's eye, and the hairstyle isn't something ordinary. This won't affect your acceptance, it just makes people take notice to your attention to detail. Make sure you are well organized and calm when you walk in, be ready to instantly hand Ms. Bea whatever she asks for (and nothing more- no "extras" because she won't look at it), and don't forget to smile!

Hi again, can someone please specify If the blue card has to be in before the application deadline or before the start of the program. I emailed to find out but I was not given a direct answer, it just said the blue card is needed to continue in the application process

Thank you so much! I will definitely turn it in this week instead of waiting any longer, Idk what I was thinking! How long after turning in your application did you the notification for fingerprinting? So nothing is due before the application deadline except the application itself and the items to be turned in with it (transcripts, immunizations), the hesi review etc will take place later correct? Thank you for all of your help! Hopefully we can keep touch and both get accepted!

I actually did my fingerprinting in 2015- I knew ahead of time that it would take the BON a bit longer to do my case (I got into some minor trouble as soon as I turned 18, but I wanted to tell them about it anyways because I have a friend who withheld some minor detail from the BON- and they suspended her license for 2 years to do the investigation...she lost her house over it!) First rule of nursing- you don't mess with the BON!

And yes- they will contact you and schedule the Hesi (this is actually something you could talk to Ms. Nicole about if you want to get it out of the way).

No- you won't need your Blue Card to apply, but you will need it in hand before they will let you start class. Remember, I had already been approved by my BON investigator over the phone, but hadn't received my approval letter yet and I was still dropped from classes. You can do fingerprinting immediately at the Sylvan Learning center at Garth and I-10. Directly after that, contact BON and let them know you need to be evaluated! They take forever (it took them 2 years to get mine done- and this was a minor offense that took place more than a decade ago)!

Yes- application, shots (it's best to already have your titers done), and transcripts is all you need! Be sure to also have your CPR card, or at least be scheduled for a new one.

Mrs.Maynard,RN
