Hello, are there any applicants for the Fall 2017 ADN Program at Lee College in Baytown, TX? If so, what step in the application process are you currently in? Currently I am awaiting the arrival of my Blue Card, but have successfully turned in my application on January 5th and successfully tested for the HESI the first week of March. I am curious as to when the nursing office begins calling people back regarding acceptance into the program?
P.S. if anyone has any questions regarding the HESI A2 exam, feel free to ask me about any concerns you may have. I just took it, and passed it with an overall 90%. I have plenty of tips and information I could share regarding the HESI.

Hi, I'm interested in the vocational program, but I may just wait until I finish all of my pre-reqs for the associates program. I'm taking the HESI on the 20th of this month. I'm applying to several programs, but Lee is my first choice. I would love to know what you did to get such a great score & what I should focus on.
@ch105, I took the Math, Reading, Vocabulary, Grammar, and A&P sections of the HESI.
Honestly, I mainly studied using the Elsevier HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review Book, 4th Ed. ISBN: 9780323353786
I highly recommend you get this book and memorize it.
- Math was my highest score 94% and honestly, it was because I worked all the sample questions in the Book and I used this link > HESI A2 Math Practice Test - Hesi A2 Practice Test
The questions in this link are very similar to the questions in the actual HESI. I specifically remember only getting 3 questions regarding the conversions, and they were Liter = mL, grams = Mg, Quarts = pints. Also, I got 1 military time conversion question. A lot of Proportions/Ratios, for example: 7:10::14:x In addition, there was a lot of Decimal to %, % to Decimal, Fraction to %. And the rest, which were half the questions on the test, were basic division/multiplication/addition/subtraction of fractions w/ mixed numbers.
- Reading was super easy. I read through the chapter on the Book, it was very short about 4 pages. Basically just very short stories, no more than 3 paragraphs, and questions about the summary, main idea, author's purpose, facts/details in story, and what the author is implying/inferring.
- Vocabulary was not as bad as I expected. A lot of the words in the Book were actually in the actual HESI exam with the exemption of a few like Ostracize. I memorized all the words in the book and used this quizlet >> HESI A2 words Flashcards | Quizlet for practice because it had all the words from the book plus a few extra. In addition I used this practice test as well >> Free HESI A2 Vocabulary Practice Test But have no fear, the words that I did not know were not very hard to guess correctly. Just read the sentence carefully and the answer choices and you should be able to weed out the ones that are completely off.
- Grammar I suggest reading the chapter on the Book if you do not know what Adjectives, Adverbs, Euphemism, Interjection, Direct/Indirect Object, Dependent/Independent Clause, Preposition, Predicate, and Conjunction mean because the questions ask what those are. For example, What is the Adverb in the sentence? In which sentence is the word "green" used as an Adjective? Which is the Dependent Clause in the sentence? Which sentence has an Interjection? And then the rest of the questions on the HESI were "Fill in the blank on the best word that fits this sentence." Basically super easy, just had to choose whichever sounds best. And all of the rest of the questions were "Which word is used incorrectly?" This was a little tricky because the brain tends to fix errors automatically when you are reading a sentence, so just read the sentences carefully and slowly.
- A&P I memorized the whole chapter on the Book and made notecards which helped a lot. The HESI did have 2 questions regarding the different joints: Hinge = Elbow, Ball & Socket = Shoulder Arm, which were not on the book, so make sure you know those. Most of the questions were basic and not in depth. It was not bad at all, very general A&P. I got 1 question of each: the anatomical position, superior/inferior, proximal/distal. Tissue questions, "Which tissue covers, lines; protects body?" which is the Epithelial, so learn the tissues/functions. Cells & its Organelles, "The Ribosomes in a Cell are responsible for?". Several questions about Mitosis/Meiosis. The Epidermis layers. Several questions about the Glands, for example the Endocrine glands, pituitary, parathyroid. The Hormones, ex: reproductive hormones, cortisol. The different systems: Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous, Circulatory, RespiratoryUrinary, Digestive Systems. A couple Brain questions, regarding the cerebrum = movement and the medulla oblongata = vital functions, respiratory control center. Also, there was a question that asked about muscles locations, for example: If a patient has an injury to their vastus lateralis, where would he have pain? A. the arm B. the leg C. the chest Therefore, make sure you look at the pictures in the book about the muscles. Basically, just read the whole chapter on A&P that the book provides, make notes cards on the important stuff, and memorize it. Take this practice test as well, it is a good one because it explains why the answers are wrong/correct >> Free HESI A2 Anatomy and Physiology Practice Test
Sorry if I rambled off but I wanted to make sure I provided you with enough insight into the exam as possible. Just stay calm, it's not as bad as expected. My school allowed 6hrs to test and it took me 5hrs to complete, but that's because I took my time in the Math section double checking my answers.
Good luck, study study and you will do great!
Thank you so much!!

Hey I applied to Lee for Fall 17. My cousin graduated last summer and was working as a full time nurse immediately. She says she really enjoyed the program.
@Mschatman
Awesome, I am glad to hear from another person applying to the same program. Hope we both get in!
Thank you for the information regarding your cousin. I have not had a chance to speak with anyone who has graduated from this program so it is nice to get some insight on it.
May I ask, what all have you done in regards to the application process. Has the nursing office reviewed your HESI scores with you yet? I have done everything: HESI score review and turned in BON Blue Card, but it is already April and I am getting anxious as to when they begin calling people back? Do you know any additional information from your cousin, like when they start calling people back?
Thank you Mschatman!
I know they are a little behind in calling people back. I did talk to Ms. Bea. And I'll see my cousin Friday. So I'll pick her brainí ½í¸
@Mschatman, Thank you.
I think I am going to work up the courage to call Ms. Bea this Monday.
I read from previous forums on here that they do not begin calling until mid-late May.
If this is true then we have a ways to wait.
You are correct. They decide mid may but that's like three weeks away. Not too bad. I talked to my cousin. She stated finger printing and background usually happened for her after acceptance. So it may be a good sign to have been asked to complete it already. The acceptance letters is supposed to come through the mail.

Hi, I will be applying to the transition program for fall 2017. The application is due May 15th and I plan to turn in my application soon. I'm nervous because I've waited so long to turn it in, I've already taken my hesi elsewhere. My English 1302 is in progress and will be complete May 12th which is another reason I'm not too confident, although at the info session they mentioned it would be fine even for those doing mini may sessions. Good luck to you all!

Hi there!
I applied to the Lee ADN program for fall of last year (2016), but the BON took 10 days too long to deliver my paperwork and ultimately got me kicked out of the program! I was already registered for the classes, had my scrubs patched, and the fall semester was to start in about 5 days when I got the bombshell that I wouldn't be able to attend! It was heartbreaking! Luckily, Ms. Nicole called me a few weeks ago saying that she had resubmitted my application for me, and that all I needed to do is wait...and wait...
Some advice for the Lee program: Do not call Ms. Bea, ever! She is very busy and will shut you down as quickly as she answers the phone! Unless you have a question about BON clearance, immunizations, or something else to do with your application process, direct your questions to Ms. Nicole (she is very knowledgeable and can answer any question you have). It is best not to call to see if you've been invited into the program because no matter who you talk to, they can't tell you anything.
Last year when I was accepted, Ms. Nicole contacted me by phone (I later received a letter), and requested I come in to pick up my acceptance packet. You have to sign a few papers that day- and then get ready and make sure all of your ducks are in a row, because anything you haven't completed yet will need to be done immediately! Hope this helps!
