Least impacted community college RN programs

Published

Does anyone know of the least impacted community college RN programs within California? I'm not confident enough in my GPA standing to put all of my hope in CSU BSN programs, and I know that even RN programs can be difficult to get into. I'm hoping to get into at least one Fall 2020 since I am finished with all of my pre reqs this fall 2019.

I'm willing to move but only within the bounds of California

Ya' know, I live in CA, but it seems all of them are impacted. The only suggestion I have is perhaps looking in Northern CA -- not the SF Bay Area, but wayyyyy up north like near the Oregon border. You have the communities of Redding, Red Bluff, Eureka/Arcata. I don't even know if all of these places have community colleges, but give it a shot.

I do know Redding has Shasta College, but I'm not sure how tough it would be to get into. You may also want to check out Yuba College in Marysville. Both of these have nursing programs. Sierra College in Rocklin also has one, but Sierra is very close to Sacramento so that might be tougher than the first two I mentioned.

The towns I'm mentioning are smaller towns (compared to LA, SF, SJ, Sac, etc..) so you have a smaller population to contend with.

If you do not have a great GPA, it's going to be tough regardless. Remember, you're competing with people who have A's on all science prerequisites and around a 3.50 or higher GPA in other classes. Even these people get turned down! It's tough out there. I know you don't want to move, but you may want to seriously consider out of state if at all possible.

Good luck!

Humboldt State in Arcata and College of the Redwoods in Eureka both have nursing programs. No idea if they are impacted (grew up in the area but no longer live there) but I would guess not.
