LBCC & Cypress Spring 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

I thought I would start the a post for anyone who has just applied to LBCC this past august 2013, and Cypress this September 2013 for admission to Spring 2014 programs! Letters of acceptance should hopefully be sent out for LBCC end of sept, beginning of October. Has anyone received theirs yet or know other dates??

I went to an info session for Cypress and they said the average points for their incoming classes are usually 28 and that the lowest is usually 26. They said that the best way to increase your chances is to get rid of those GE reqs.

Does that mean, that in my case, I have 24 points - if I had all the GEs done, would that increase my chances?

hey renee,

Having all the GE requirements and passed the reading proficiency gives you a total of 10 points max, 15 max from Science GPA, and 5 max from Life experiences. However, in your case, since you got all Bs on your science classes, 9 out of 15 points. The total points you could possibly have is 24 points :-(

Bummer :( If I had one A in my science classes, it would bump be up 2 points! Guess I'll have to repeat one again, if I don't get in this year.

heyrenee,

you can always apply to lbcc or Cerritos... they aren't point based and you might be able to avoid having to retake a science class!

Has anyone heard from LBCC yet?? Nothing in my mail so far...

sarah0987,

Thanks! :) I definitely will if I don't get into the other 5 schools I applied to.

haven't heard from LBCC either. They said we should hear from them 6 weeks from the application period. Now is 6 weeks! And that school, they don't pick up the phone when you call, and even when you drop in, they are very vague...urgh...

Anyway, if I don't hear from them by Friday, I'm going out there to ask in person about the results.

skymail..

i'm taking a chemistry class there right now and have class this friday so I can drop by and ask if we don't hear anything and let you know. I think it may take longer than 6 weeks... I honestly think we wont get notified until next week. I went to another one of their nursing info session last week (in case I have to apply again in march) and as of last week they were still reviewing applications. Worst case scenario, we find out next week, but ill check anyways :)

sarah0987,

You're right, I'm just getting so impatient....but If you could swing by and check, that would be great. Please keep us posted :-)

Has anyone else gotten the Email from the LBCC RN dept. asking for the last four of your social? I called them. It was a legit email. Anyone?

ryanbartond,

I didn't hear from them regarding social#. The application only requires LBCC student ID#, which from there they can find out our SS# from Admission. I wonder why they asked for yours. When did they ask you?

they asked me a few days ago. it was to complete my application or something. hopefully its a good thing :p

I posted the exact email earlier in this thread.

Just stopped by the nursing office and they said letters were mailed yesterday and the rest today. We will have them as early as today and all through next week!! Probably latest is Wednesday depending on where you live!
