Lawson State Nursing Program

Hi everyone, I don't see any recent forums on Lawson state. I'm considering applying to Lawson, so If you are a graduate, current student, or applicant who has any tips, advice, opinions, or if you'd like to share your experience with the nursing program please post here.

go to your degree PLAN, UNDER STUDENT RECORDS.......ANDD ON THERE YOUR PLLAN AND ADVISOR SHOULD BE DIFFERENT

I got an acceptance letter to the LPN Bessemer program, but I didnt apply to that one. I work full time during the day and not really interested in that program. Im gonna call for clarification, but will more than likely decline LPN and reapply for ADN next fall. No worries. Whats for me is for me! Congrats to all that got in where they wanted to. Keep pushing for those who didnt. Remember what is for you is for you!

So U didnt Apply To The Lpn Program At All?

Nope! I ONLY applied to the ADN evening program. This is why I am so confused. So far it looks as if they just chose to put me in it. I tried calling. No answer. I left an email for both the LPN chair and the ADN chair. Hopefully I will get some clarification soon.

Hello everyone, I didn't realize this forum was getting activity, but I'm happy you all are here. I too applied to Lawson, haven't heard anything yet though. I applied to ADN night and day and LPN. My friend who had 166 points did receive her acceptance letter on yesterday so hopefully I'll receive something pretty soon. I got into Jeff State ADN and Wallace Lpn(I declined it) but I really wanted to get into Lawson since it's full time night. No worries though, I'm very grateful and i'm treating Jeff State as my only option for now. Well Good luck to you all!

I checked looks like I'm in! Its changed to nursing instead of prenursing and all of the nursing courses are listed. I can't tell whether it's the day campus or not. I'm thinking my letter went to my mother's, I'll check tomorrow.

Does anyone know how Lawson's end of semester Hesi Exams works, do they even have them? I think they do I remember reading it starts at 5% first semester and goes up 5 more percentage points each semester.

I applied to both but Lpn was just my backup option if I didn't get in to the ADN. So I'm of course gonna do the ADN. Yea I know they're all pretty good schools I kinda wanted the option to work in the day time so that's why I wanted to do nights at Lawson but now I've run into another issue because I can't get financial aid at Lawson, so it looks like I'll be at Jeff State. I'm so confused, Im just gonna pray that God guides with me in my decision making because I wanna make the best one.

So i went and talked to the nursing department today. And she said the cut off for the RN was 152 and any thing falling close to that got offered the LPN program. Its considered their secondary option because you only have a extra semester to finish LPN . Because the RN program is five semester and the LPN to RN is six. If you were to accept the LPN you would finish god willing next Aug. And be guaranteed a spot in the RN mobility program which they only allow Lawson LPN graduates in and would start that January.
