Are there are any current students or applicants to the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College ASN program? I will be attending an info session this week but would like to hear some first hand accounts from current students. Is the admission process quick once your application is complete? What is the typical clinical schedule like? I am considering both day and evening programs so any info would be appreciated!

Hi MissB,

Thank you! I will start nursing in January, after I take a few of the general ed courses I have remaining this semester.

I'll definitely let you know more about the program as I move along through it.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

I'm in my second semester at LM/RC, Evening weekend division, it is a wonderful program but it is tough, everyone in the class either works and or has kids etc. it's taylored with that in mind. Good Luck!:nurse:

I was asked to come in for an interview next week at LM/RC. I am very excited about it, but also very nervous about what they may ask me. I REALLY want into the night/weekend program and am crossing my fingers that I get accepted! Any advice on the interview would be greatly apprecaited!!

Your basically in. I am in the evening/weekend program. They may ask you why you want to be a nurse. Why you chose this particular school. It's a wonderful program very challenging so be ready to give up a lot for a short time. They are going to be using the Brunner & Suddarth Medical Surgical book for your first semester they will use Taylor's fundamentals of nursing, Lehne's Pharmacology 7th edition, I suggest you look at those a bit. You'll need about 9 books , a PDA and uniforms so if your working put some $$ aside.

Thanks! I had my interview yesterday which I think went OK, but of course I left thinking of the things I should have said, etc. I wish I knew how many interviewed candidates are accepted into the program - I've been hearing that if they interview you it means you are "in" but I dont want to get my hopes up. I'm assuming they do not interview everyone?

Did you receive financial aid? I'm unemployed (have been for 2 years) and have been home taking care of my children...I'm hoping to receive some sort of financial aid (this is my second degree...I have a BA in psych).

Hello! So happy to see other people interested in this program. I'm an evening/weekend student going into my last semester at LM/RC. I took a semester off because I got married and couldn't handle everything, and I'm getting ready to get back into the school groove again. As others have said, it's a very challenging program. You are expected to learn a lot, know how to apply what you've learned and make connections. however, the teachers and clinical instructors are fantastic. They all want you to succeed even though sometimes it seems like torture. I agree with saving up your pennies - the program costs a LOT more than I originally expected it to. Uniforms, stethoscope, medical supplies, PDA, PDA programs, tons of books, etc etc. Most of the books you buy in the first course are used throughout the program, so you don't get stuck with a huge bill each semester. And if you have an iPod Touch or iPhone already, you will probably be able to use that as your PDA (when I started the program we were all required to buy the same device but that has since changed). I have worked full-time throughout the program. It hasn't always been easy but it's necessary for me. I am very lucky that I have a lot of free time at work and I often study while I'm there. Depending on your job, you may or may not be able to work. Good Luck! I can't wait to be done with the program and be able to call myself a nurse :) They have a very successful NCLEX pass rate and a very good job placement rate. Many area hospitals love LMH grads!

I am currently in my last semester at Lawrence/Memorial Regis college ASN program in Medford. It is an awesome program and I would suggest if you don't have to work full time then don't. I am in the night/weekend program which is usually 2 nights/week about 4 hrs and e/o weekend including friday nights for clinical. They really prepare you to take the NCLEX. Good Luck.. you made a good choice

Hello Colleen, I too am applying for the night/weekend program, my question is I have mostly B grades, and one C will they even look at my application, or do you think I'm wasting my time.....I too am a older women 50.

Not sure if you heard back from LM/RC yet, but i just graduated from the program this fall. I did have a prior degree, and actually had a couple C's from college on my transcript. They did ask me about it, but I still got accepted to the program.... i just told them that at the time I wasn't sure where my career path was going and that I wasn't as mature as I am now, and now I am completely confident that I can apply myself, etc.

I too had a few glitches on my transcripts...actually my high school ones were worse and of concern to them. When submitting my HS transcripts I actually write an addendum to my essay because I felt the need to explain why they were so poor (even though it was 15 years ago!). They were really great about it...said it was nice that I already explained it all to them. They look very closely at your grades here. Fortunately all of my pre-reqs have been 4.0, so I proved myself since high school and my BA. I think if you are honest and upfront with them, they are very receptive to it. Just be honest and make sure to explain any "glitches" on your transcripts as well. It certainly helped me out! Good luck!! ;) I start in August and cant wait!!

I'm thinking about applying to the 2012 RN program at LM/ regis. can anyone tell me if this school is really hard to get into? and what kind of things do they ask you in there interview any information will help.

I think about 1 in every 3 or 4 applicants will get accepted. The good thing is that they have Fall and Winter starts and day and evening programs (whcih increases your chances since they admit 4 classes per year!). They are really strict on grades and I do know of people who have not gotten in based on grades, but if you have good grades, I am sure your chances are good!! Best of luck!!

Hey everyone! I graduated in 2009 and am in the rn-msn upward mobility program at regis college now going for my bsn and msn. The asn program is very tough, and will challenge you to your breaking point but its all worth it in the end! They really did prepare you for the nclex. My whole graduating class passed first time around. I would suggest getting a part time job as a nursing assistant to get your foot in the door, it really helps during clinicals. As for when your done with the program, regis college takes priority to LMH students- i am currently in the MSN program part time and working full time!

Good luck guys!;)
