Are there are any current students or applicants to the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College ASN program? I will be attending an info session this week but would like to hear some first hand accounts from current students. Is the admission process quick once your application is complete? What is the typical clinical schedule like? I am considering both day and evening programs so any info would be appreciated!
Hi Irish mommy,
I just recently got into the night/weekend program. Here's all I can tell you. You need very good grades in all the sciences and math especially A & P. I have all A's ,they do say you can apply with a c+ or better but are really looking for an 85 average or better for grades. I also do volunteer work for the hospital and my Church. I took extra classes like Medical Terminology which I found helpful in my A & P classes. I wrote a truthful and strong essay. I already work in the hospital. I got three references, two from my job and one from my Anatomy & Physiology teacher. Good Luck and if this is really for you ,you'll do well!

It will take 4 months. Everyone in my class had the same thing. I applied at the beginning of February and got an email in May to come in for an interview. Once you get the interview your pretty much in. You really need a good essay and references and of course b+ or better in your sciences, except for like high school grades if you haven't been for over 5 years. They really want to see your a good student now. It's a touch program once your in too, but I love it! Good luck!
Don't be surprised if you hear from them really quick.... i submitted my application the last week of January, heard it was complete the first week in February and then got asked to go in for an interview 3 weeks later. I was accepted that night!! They told me 4-6 weeks to review my app and then it only ended up taking 3 weeks. GOODLUCK! :)
Hey! I had an interview (phone) last week after a faculty rec. I was told today I should hear back within the week. So you think I'm "in" if I've gotten through to the interview?
Also, I'm torn between LM/Regis and Rivier College (has offered a scholarship about $7k/year), it takes 2 years for the RN and the senior year is a "capstone" year with an internship/preceptorship. I'm also torn because I'm not 100% clear what my options are after LM Regis. I know there is a upward mobility BSN-MSN after you get your RN. From what i understand it takes 2 more years at Regis to get your BSN (bc you will be taking MS level courses as well), and then 1 year to complete your Masters. Is that what most ppl do after LM? Any other ideas??
Any advice would be helpful!!!
Thanks so much!
Leila
Wow!
I just searched the LMN/Regis info and found this thread. Thanks to all who wrote, its very helpful. I am applying now and very nervous, I hear nothing but good things about this program.
Any full time workers out there doing this program and want to share their experience?
Thanks,
K:confused:
hello,
i'm new at this site, so please bear with me!
i'm not a recent grad, but i was recently accepted to the lm/rc day program. i had a great experience with the application process, aside from it being a bit lengthy. they were very thorough and happy to answer my questions.
the application process took about 3 months from the time i submitted my application to the day i found out i was accepted: 3 weeks to complete my file (verify i submitted all required forms), 8 weeks for the committee to review my file and ask me to come in for an interview, 2 weeks to be accepted after the interview.
to avoid delays, i strongly suggest submitting everything in one package, including transcripts. be sure transcripts are as up to date as possible.
the interview went fairly quickly. first, they reviewed the program. then, asked questions like: why did i apply to their program, why should they accept me, what are my plans for the future, etc. at the end, i was given an opportunity to ask questions.
for the essay requirement: get straight to the point and tell them what they want to know. through your answers/experiences, show them you understand what it takes to be a nurse, and that you are determined and prepared for the rigors of nursing school.
i suggest attending an information session (i think they have them on thursdays in medford). i found it to be very informative. in fact, it was probably the most informative information session i've been to as far as associate programs go. no question was left unanswered. literally. they stayed until every single question was answered and were happy to do so! they also provided light refreshments!
if possible, i also suggest getting a lot of the sciences complete before applying (anatomy and physiology, micro). getting a's and b's in these courses will not only help to maintain a good gpa, but it will also give them an idea of how well you will do in nursing. it also shows that you are prepared for nursing school, as well as providing you with a lighter course load when clinicals begin.
as far as entering into regis right away: if i understand correctly, once you complete the associate program and pass the nclex, you have one year to apply (they will waive the app fee). during that time you have priority consideration over new applicants.
i hope this helps!
good luck!

Im actually in the day full time program and in my last semester, ill be graduating in MAY. This school is wonderful. They teachers are great, and are there for you every step of the way. They prepare you fully for the NCLEX. Our pass rate is 99% for the boards. I've had nothing but a wonderful experience here. Be ready to be challenged, but you will learn so much within the next 2 years. Time flys.. good luck!
