My Nursing Career In Six Words
Started school on Monday....completely overwhelmed!!!

Lawrence Memorial/Regis College ASN
I think about 1 in every 3 or 4 applicants will get accepted. The good thing is that they have Fall and Winter starts and day and evening programs (whcih increases your chances since they admit 4 classes per year!). They are really strict on grades and I do know of people who have not gotten in based on grades, but if you have good grades, I am sure your chances are good!! Best of luck!!

I am starting this fall!! Night/weekend program? You? I'm very excited for orientation next week!!

Posting your Exam Grades on Facebook
I happily post my grades on FB if I feel they are well deserved. As a SAHM of 2 young children, I bust my rear studying late nights and any chance I get where they arent bothering me. I work hard for my 4.0 and so when a major exam comes up...or the end of a semester I will gladly share (or brag) about my accomplishments! =) I can however, understand the annoyance of it to someone who perhaps struggles a bit more than others.

Lawrence memorial Fall 2011
She is a woman . As for prep work, there is some reading prior to the start, CPR training and some math prep. Still plenty of time though!! FYI - Regis offers a winter intersession Ethics course on the Weston campus (2 weeks long). I took it over the break this past winter and it certainly held my interest for 2 weeks. You should check it out if you can. It was so nice to put it behind me in two weeks!!

Lawrence memorial Fall 2011
I did not take micro at LM/RC. I've been taking most pre-reqs at a local Community COllege to save a little on cost. Good luck though!!

Yes - I received the math packet. Its basic math -- but all stuff that you most likely forgot about (although very basic!!) LOL. Its adding/subtracting fractions, multiplying dividing fraction, least common denominator, decimals, etc. One of the required books, "Dimensional Analysis for Meds" has a math review in the beginning 4 chapters. I found it helpful. Its amazing how quickly you put that stuff in the way back of yoru mind!! Good luck on getting into the program! I am finishing up Microbio in a few weeks and then I am finally DONE with pre-req's!! HOORAY!!

I too had a few glitches on my transcripts...actually my high school ones were worse and of concern to them. When submitting my HS transcripts I actually write an addendum to my essay because I felt the need to explain why they were so poor (even though it was 15 years ago!). They were really great about it...said it was nice that I already explained it all to them. They look very closely at your grades here. Fortunately all of my pre-reqs have been 4.0, so I proved myself since high school and my BA. I think if you are honest and upfront with them, they are very receptive to it. Just be honest and make sure to explain any "glitches" on your transcripts as well. It certainly helped me out! Good luck!! I start in August and cant wait!!

Lawrence memorial Fall 2011
@beachmum - YES, you do not have to take all of your pre-req's from Regis. I took 80% from NSCC and just had to take 2 at Regis. It saves a TON of money - at least 600 per class!! I have been unemployed for over 2 years, SAHM with 2 small children and am very worried about the financial aspect, but my hope is that with loans we can make it through. I am in the night/we program.

Lawrence memorial Fall 2011
I have also been accepted into the LM/RC program for the nights/weekends starting in the Fall 2011. I am very excited to begin and am just now working on my last pre-reqs. Just finished up Stats at Regis, A&PII and am taking my last prereq (Micro) this summer at a local CC. Anyone else out there in the night/weekend division of the program?? Looking for fellow classmates!!

Do you guys see a lot of people saying they are nursing students....

Am I a nursing student, waiting to start? I don't think I'm a pre-nursing student anymore; pre-nursing tells me that one is taking pre-req classes, but I'm done with all that now. Maybe just saying that I'm a nursing student, just waiting to enter the program? That IS accurate, after all, and doesn't make me sound pretentious I don't think. Advice? I agree!!

Well, I for one say that I am a pre-nursing or nursing student. I am still in the pre-req stage but HAVE been accepted into my program already and scheduled to begin in the Fall assuming I have completed all of my requirements. I am not "trying" to get into a school nor am I waitlisted, so what else would you like me to call it?

Thanks! I had my interview yesterday which I think went OK, but of course I left thinking of the things I should have said, etc. I wish I knew how many interviewed candidates are accepted into the program - I've been hearing that if they interview you it means you are "in" but I dont want to get my hopes up. I'm assuming they do not interview everyone? Did you receive financial aid? I'm unemployed (have been for 2 years) and have been home taking care of my children...I'm hoping to receive some sort of financial aid (this is my second degree...I have a BA in psych).

I was asked to come in for an interview next week at LM/RC. I am very excited about it, but also very nervous about what they may ask me. I REALLY want into the night/weekend program and am crossing my fingers that I get accepted! Any advice on the interview would be greatly apprecaited!!
