Hi
i am a nurse that has just recently been reinstated and re licensed and in with TPApN in Texas.
i always wondered what to do about not having a nursing license so I thought I would try law school. I have an associate degree in administration and a few of the online law programs in California accept associate degrees for entrance.
i applied at one however I was declined. I really am sad because that was the only thing I could think of doing and becoming without a nurse license. The cal bar association may even work with you being out of state in a peer program so I thought how great.
now that I’ve been declined I am assuming I should just give up on that thought. I was hoping to be able to do it since me and nursing fell apart however as long as I have a psychiatrist at my mentAl health center I can be in tpapn out of state. And I can pass the psychological evaluations. so I’m at least thrilled about that part for sure.
however with being declined in law schools I have no idea... I just wanted it to hopefully be an option. There is a few other online jd programs that accept associate degrees.
I guess if worse comes to worse I can pursue becoming a nurse practioner lol. Yea that really sounds just worse huh? Jk I think that could smoke an attorney any day and I will always put nursing top of my list everyday for the rest of my life.
I thought I would be a nurse practioner and jd in my final days however y’all about being scorched the wrong way. Ouch
p.s. Never give up on being a nurse or getting back into licensure. Take care

So....you applied at one law school and were declined? Is this because you have an associates? Or were there specific questions that pertained to your RN licensure?
If you were a nurse hopeful who only applied to one nursing school, I'd say keep trying, so I'll say that. Did you work with a nurse-lawyer during your initial dealings with the BON? Can you shadow one of those lawyers?
