Last term nursing student looking for PCT job

Hey

This is my last term in nursing school. I will graduate in August. I had 3 interviews for PCT jobs. I haven't heard back from the hospital. My friend is an RN, he told me that they don't hire nursing students because I will graduate soon.

I have an interview Monday. is there anything I should say to convince them to hire me even if I will finish school in August?

I wouldn't say when your finished unless they ask. And if they do ask convince them that it will be some time before your a rn. In my state you have to wait 6 weeks after graduating before taking the nclex. But I think your friend might be right because once you get your rn license you can't work as a pct so they would have to let you go or give you a rn position. Good look I would just avoid talking about school lol

I think the only way you can get that job it is if you lie or avoid the subject. Where I work, the hiring process is 3 months and the facility spends so much money in training new people that if they know someone is graduating nursing school in less than 3 months they will see it as a waste of resources. On the other hand, my unit manager loves to hire nursing students. He just hired a nursing student that will graduate in December. My unit manager hires nursing students so when they become RNs he can hire them with only the RN training left, saving money in the long run. Good luck

I know they see it as a waste of money. If they hire, it would be great, if not it is still ok. all i want was to get my foot in the door and get experience.
