Last minute studying for Pre-entrance exam! Help..

Published

I only have 18 days to study for my pre-entrance exam. I bought the National League For Nursing Review Guide for RN Pre-Entrance Exam. AND i borrowed some books too.. However, i'm not sure how to study everything at the last minute. If there is anyone who have taken the exam already, would you mind giving me an insight of how the exam was? And please let me know any good advice or studying tips for this particular exam! I would appreciate anyone who comments!! Thanks and Best of luck to everyone!! :D

Make sure that you can do all of the math presented in that NLN-PAX book. Skip the vocabulary, none of those words will be on the test. Make sure that you can do the reading comprehension, I mean do a "No-BS" self appraisal. All of the science section was on my test, including some physics questions that were not in the study guide. When I took it in May it had a lot of electricity theory in the science section.

I took all of the practice tests while timing myself and was only missing 4 or 5, but when I took the test I missed about 8.

Just study the NLN practice exam book. Time yourself on the math section because a lot of people had trouble finishing all of the question in that section of the exam. Study the science practice questions, especially physics and biology. Some of the physics questions on my exam weren't in the practice book though. The vocab section is hard to study for. Either you know it or you don't. It may seem hard when you're taking the exam, but you'll probably do way better than you thought that you did. Good luck!

I didn't buy the study guide for my test this past November, but the test was facilitated at the school I hope to attend for my ADN next fall, and when I scheduled my exam, the very nice lady gave me a link to practice questions. Here is the link to said website. Nursing Entrance Test Practice Questions - Help your Nursing Entrance Exam Score with free Test Preparation Materials for the NET Test, TEAS® Test, and PSB Tests I studied that website and scored a 155(99th percentile), so hopefully it will help you as well.

Coincidentally, there are also NCLEX study questions on the site as well...

Gummi Bear and Virgilio are right when it comes to the math section. I finished the test in an hour and 45 minutes, and the math section took up almost the entire hour allotted to it for me. My math section was for the most part basic algebra though, so the questions weren't difficult. It just took a while to work them out.

I don't know how anyone else's science section was, but mine was predominantly physics questions with a smattering of general A&P and Chemistry. It was my lowest section(95th percentile) because Physics is not my strong point. So, if science is difficult for you, I would recommend studying up on that as well. The Verbal section was very easy though.

One thing I can say is don't stress out about studying. Just make sure you can do all of the math questions in an hour, and you should do wonderfully!

Good luck and let us know how you did!!!
