Last day before Retirement

Today is not only the last day of school before Winter vacation, it is my last day before retirement!. I vascillate between being excited and nervous. But I'm overwhelmed by the gifts, cards, hugs and messages of appreciation I've been getting this week. Parents galore keep coming to me to ask to hug me and tell me how much better they have felt knowing I was here to care for their child. When my 4 children were in school (may years ago. They now range from 34 to 40) I didn't worry much. But times have changed. We see so many children with significant health, emotional or behavioral issues. I guess I would worry too if my kid was in school with Life Threatening Allergies, bad Asthma etc. I was blessed not to have to worry about that sort of thing. So I leave, full of gratitude and ready for whatever life brings me. I plan to continue as a sub in my school system but no more having to get up at 6 AM to go out in a blizzard to shovel out my car so I can get to work on time. I've enjoyed this forum and will continue to be involved here but I'll not be a working lady anymore after today. Yipee!!

god bless you michigoose ! and congrats on your retirement. i am sure you will be missed terribly. i only wish you the best of everything as you start your new life of retirement. i have enjoyed reading your post's over the past few years. please don't be a stranger to us ! we love you !
