I have recently been accepted to an RN program and I need all of the advantages possible. I see that most students are using laptops, but is a tablet PC a viable option? Also, would it be advantageous to also have a PDA? And finally, what manufacturers are putting out a good product? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :typing

I would have been lost without my laptop. Especially since many of our instructors would post their PPTs on line and I could download them and add notes. Very nice to review later.
I didn't use a PDA. I never thought it would be practical. When I worked for a retail chain, we carried one. Well I should say I carried it 90% of the time and dropped it the rest. I don't have time to wait for a PDA to boot up when I have a med question. Much easier to open a book. Plus I wouldn't know where to carry it. I have soooo much junk in my scrub pockets now that I feel like a pack mule. :)

I use my laptop constantly for school work. Also, a PDA is VERY helpful in my opinion. I can look up meds on the fly, vs going to find the book, then the drug, then what I was looking for about the drug. 3-4 clicks of the PDA, and I have what I need. Plus I carry soooo many other things on there, like RN Notes, a Med calculator, a Dictionary, etc etc plus my schedule.
SO, In my opinion, I use a Palm PDA and an IBook from Apple.
Hope that helps.
