I have a family member considering the Lap Band procedure. I don't really know much about it, other than what I've read online. Does anyone have any personal experience with this, or work with this patient population?
Thanks. :)

What about checking out one of the bariatric sites? I did some clinical time in a surgical practice where lap bands were done. Good success rate, low complication rate. Must get pre-approval from insurance. I would definitely get a second opinion, ensure your surgeon has done several 100 procedures and reduce the comorbities if at all possible.
Thanks for the advice. I'll pass that along. :)

Hi
I am presently contemplating this Procedure.
I am going with my HMO approval.
I went to the information session & have an appt. with the sugeon in 2 wks.
My surgeon has done MANY of these--several hundred if not more. Low complication rate;
It's been a long process coming. I first talked with my Primary MD, last March, but the HMO required all kind of stuff including a session with a Nutritionist.
Personally, I have been waiting for this for a long time & I hope they finally get to the procedure quickly.
