Lap Band in the military

Does anyone know if you have undergone bariatric surgery, such as lap band if that prohibits you from joining the Armed Services?

Don't think that it would, but I would call a recruiter and specifically ask.

If I remember correctly from the medical qualifications, any GI procedure for weight control is disqualifying. However, many things seem to be waiver-able, too.

I remember a student nurse whose commissioning was delayed for overweight. She was hospitalized, but I don't know what medical course of action was taken to bring her within weight guidelines. She was in an Army scholarship program so was already serving as an E3 at this time. I assume she was given an ultimatum to go into the hospital for purposes of weight loss.
