Langara January 2019 intake

Hey guys!

Is anyone planning on applying to Langara's January 2019 intake?

Hi! I'll be applying for the January 2019 intake as well. I have a previous degree and my GPA is around 3.5. I'm finishing up a couple pre reqs this month so hopefully my GPA can stay around there or go up!

Does anyone know whether the whole degree holders getting first considerations (as long as they meet the requirements) is true?

Good luck everyone!

At an info meeting in fall of 2016 they said that if you had a degree & the pre-requisites with the minimum grades required you were in. They said they wouldn't even look at GPA except if an intake had 75 degree holders all applying; which they said had never happened but if it did then they'd rank them according to gpa of pre-reqs. So - I think you're in :)

That's reassuring and really hope it's true! I did however read in another year's thread though that an advisor said that a degree only gives them a small advantage and is not necessarily an automatic acceptance. I'm too scared to know the truth, so I'm just working as hard as I possibly can on the prereqs.

Applying with a 3.53 GPA! Thought it will be good enough but after reading the previous forums, I don't have high hopes anymore :( I have a feeling I'mma be waitlisted... Good luck to the rest of you guys though!

Just wondering, do you have a previous degree?

Also, don't lose hope! This is on the Langara Nursing overview page (bottom right)...

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Intake Average

Our competitive average for the Spring 2018 intake was 3.5. Please note this GPA does not guarantee acceptance for future intakes. The publication of this average is solely intended as information for our applicants.

The GPA for each intake is obviously relative to the applicants, but don't lose hope!

Hi anyone! I emailed the admissions about reactivating my application since i already applied for the sept 2018 intake but it's been a few days and no one replied yet. did anyone reply to you guys??

I've also applied for the January 2019 intake at Langara. An advisor told me that as I am a degree holder, I would be given priority admission. Even after being told that I'm still trying to keep up my pre req GPA just in case!

Yes, same here! I don't want to take anything for granted!

We apply through the educationplannerbc website right? I got an email saying Langara College will reach out to give me more info about where to submit transcripts etc. Does anyone know how long it will take for Langara to contact us? I mean, I assume best is just to go ahead and request my previous degree transcripts to be sent to Langara already...

I know that this is kind of unrelated but I'm planning on doing a RN-BSN program after I'm done with CCAC Nursing and I want to take MAT 161 Elementary Statistics that is required for all the BSN programs I have looked at. I want to take it this summer but there only offered online and I'm okay with math just taking online doesn't seem the best way to me and I can only attend Allegheny Campus but it's not offered on campus in the summer or in the Fall there only online. Also, if I can't take math I would do Nutrition instead but I have not looked at the sections offered for Summer or Fall. What is my best option or any suggestions?

I'm not in the same boat, since I'm a new applicant. But I think you should forward your previous email to nudge them, and then consider giving them a call early next week.

Sorry everyone I wrote on the wrong post just disregard.

im applying for the jan intake as well!! im waitlisted for the sept intake with 3.53 gpa and no prior degree

Hi everyone!

I am applying for January 2019 with around a 4.07 GPA on the 5 prereqs with no previous degree.

I was reading past January intake forums and some students found out they were accepted around late June, hopefully we find out early as well!!
