World Canada CA Programs

Hi everyone! Applications are now closed and acceptances should be sent out later this month. I'd love to hear from anyone who receives their acceptance as well as students currently in the program offering any advice, or anyone (im)patiently waiting like myself!

Yes I finish in a month! I'm ready to pull all my hair out! What happened to your transcript?

Hi. Just wana ask. Are they just considering the 5 prereq courses when computing your gpa and accepting you in. Or they will look at all the courses you have taken at Langara?

They calculate your GPA using the prereq courses. However, if you have a degree that will help you even more.

Will it affect the calculation if you repeat one of the courses? Thanks!

A biology course? If you retake it and get a higher grade, they will use the higher grade. I'm not 100% sure though!

I don't think so! I know some who got in for Fall 2015 after retaking biology 1190

Hey guys,I have applied to the jan 2016 but I am still completing my pre reqs and will be done by the end of this semester.

I am hoping to have a GPA of 3.46 minimum once I am done, I was wondering if that would be enough and if Langara rounds your gpa up or not?

I don't think Langara will round your GPA up, since on the transcripts it always shows up as a number with 2 decimal spaces, for example, 3.00. 3.46 is quite close to the cutoff for this semester, so you may end up having to wait a bit for your acceptance, however, each intake is different and from what I've heard is that January intakes are less competitive than September. Good luck!

ah the stress it totally beginning to get to me as the deadline closes in. I am redoing one of the AP Bio classes this summer just in case my gpa isn't enough for the january intake but I hope the intake is less competitive as you've mentioned. Thanks for the reply, and good luck to you and your first year in the program!

Hi nixnurse,

Are you able to apply for the Jan intake before completing your pre-reqs? :o

@nixnurse: I definitely know how you're feeling! Hope your finals go well and you're able to boost up!

@xsazakura: Are you currently at Langara? If you're finishing up your prereqs you can apply as long as your grades will be available before the May 31st deadline (this semester's grades will be ready by April 28th). I applied in October 2014 while doing my prereqs and the deadline for grades (and to apply) was January 31st.

Yes, I'm currently at Langara just finishing A&P (: thanks for replying =D
