I wanted to know if there is anyone the nursing program at Lamar University. Or anyone applied there. I heard some information about the school and it is not good. So if anyone can tell me their experience. Thanks.
I am currently in the 1st semester of the ADN program. There were 40 students chosen and about half are failing right now. Pathophysiology is extremely hard, the nursing classes aren't so bad. It is very hard if you are working or have children. Many students had to quit their jobs because of their grades. The tests are timed, giving you one minute per question. They do test review after the test so you are able to find out your grade. The reason I wanted to get into the ADN program is because I wanted to complete the program in 2 years but I wish I would have applied to BSN program or LVN program. And to be honest I am really not learning anything because they are moving so fast in the ADN program. Everything is being crammed and I hate cramming. But some students are doing just fine but not many. As for me, I am failing nursing pathophysiology and I have to make a 92 on the last exam, all other classes I am doing just fine. I will try my best to pass patho but I have been looking to go to other schools just in case I fail patho. I hope this helps!!!!!!!!

No problem...and yes it would be hard for someone coming from a big city. Some people are looking for the change, some are not. I was looking for a change that's why I left. I don't plan on going back because I plan on raising my family in Montreal...long way from Beaumont eh? But, it would be good for someone who is looking for somewhere slow-paced and quiet. You sure could get a lot of studying done:chuckle
