lacking motivation for Nclex.. :(

Published

I don't know if I lack motivation of is too lazy to study, I have a routine to do a 100sets of q&a daily but i often feels sleepy after answering around 30-40 question. I haven't reach my goal of answering the 100 question in a specific time without leaving the chair. What can i do?? i need to prepare for the nclex exam as i know it would be soon since my cgfns status is "ready for review", i need to be prepared till my exam date so that i won't tell myself when the date come of how much information and studying i still need to take the exam.:crying2:

You are not alone. After finishing nursing school, first, be proud you accomplished that. I am also in the same boat, as my NCLEX date is approaching.

My suggestion is to study side-by-side with classmates and friends. Get out of the house and do your questions in a library or a cafe. I have found this helps me. Build your stamina little by little. You can do 40 questions and then the next day do 50, and so on.

Good luck to you!

I know how you feel, just having started either. When I took my Nclex for my LPN boards, I was so motivated. Now I can't seem to get started.

Right there with ya! I purposefully didn't give myself a lot of time to study because I knew I would procrastinate. So now I'm on Day one of my 3 week study plan. I got some stuff done, but I'm a little blah.

I scheduled in down time and fun activities too, hopefully that should help.

I was overwhelmed when i graduated nursing school that i think my brain keeps telling me that i know everything. I need to change this attitude quick before i regret anything.

I don't have anyone to study with since living in the Philippines requires my friends to take the local board before they can take the NCLEX however i was exempted from the local board because of my citizenship. Do you answer those questions without you ever wanting to stand and walk around a bit? I don't want to do that as what my professor told me once i should start making a routine on how i answer the nclex and standing or walking around the house is no good routine because he told me what if i develop this routine and during the date of the exam i need to do this routine to get my focus back which i don't think would be helpful.

What study plan are you using? Done with saunder review plan the one you can print for your 1month schedule when you do the assessment exam from her CD.

I have read the whole Saunder's textbook but it seems i need to more on Meds, endo and renal those are my weak spots when i do my daily q&a.

I feel your pain. But keep in mind that you can take a quick breather after 40 questions and then continue on the NCLEX. You don't even have to get up, just sit back, take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Then go back into it. You can also find out what the breaks are like for your testing site, too.

POST the date of your exam on the wall at your desk, or whereever you study. 'then cross out the days that would wont be able to study, if you have to work or something. then count how many free days you have to study. the reality may surprise you, its coming fast. Do the questions!!!!!! Turn off the tv and think, this is my meal ticket, you CANT MESS THIS UP!!!

I'm using my own RadBSN study plan! They gave us a 3 week one at school and I kind of based mine off of that. Week 1 was Med-Surg and Pharm, Wk 2 Peds & Psych, Wk 3 Leadership & Maternity. I've kind of switched it up because I feel pretty comfortable with the Maternity and Leadership. I also want to spend more time on Med-Surg and Pharm so I've been studying those chapters more intensively and making notecards on labs, foods that have Phosphorous or whatever.

The Saunders CD gave me a 6 week study plan and just said what chapters to do each day. I didn't like that so I just set up my own. I took a few comprehensive Med-Surg ATI tests and then assigned certain subjects to certain days focusing on the stuff I know I don't know.

How long is everyone giving themeslves to study? I am freaking out...I scheduled for Feb 1st....After reading some posts on here I feel like people are studying for like 6 months... I will be studying mon-fri until the 1st and doing 100 questions a day on the weekends...I have been doing around 100 questions a day since Christmas..it should be a refresher not a repeat of school, Right?! ahhh (panic attack)

I gave myself 3 weeks. I studied last week Mon, Tues, Weds am and Friday. This week I'm studying TWTh and maybe Friday. I might do some questions right now since I'm home doing nothing!

I have a friend who studied 1 hr a day for 3 weeks and passed in 75 questions. I agree, it's a review, not a repeat of school. I'm doing some more intensive studying on the stuff I feel like I need to know cold (labs, med levels) and then questions on the other subject areas.
