lac+usc or kaiser panorama city

Published

hello to all the nurses out there. i am a new grad and was offered a position at lac+usc cardiothoracic icu on june 13 then i went to the long process of getting hired like doing the live scan and medical checkup and after getting cleared at the 1st week of july they told me that i will start on aug. 1. because they need to request my salary. im guessing because its a county facility. i called again recently and they told me it might be pushed again to sept 1 or if lucky in aug 16. meanwhile i got a call from kaiser panorama for a new grad training for er. i did an interview and recently got a call that i got in the program and its starts on october but they are trying to get me to go on the floor and see what its like hopefully in september before i start the training. my question is which one should i take. i like icu but i also like er. im just thinking which one would give me better training. lac+usc didnt mention any definite training program when i asked them. they just told me i was going to start on the stepdown unit.. so which has better benefits in the long run? thanks

Hi Kim,

I don't know about either facilities directly but I do work for Kaiser in Northern CA, and the benefits there is awesome. I am starting nursing school this August and hopefully when I am done I will be able to get into a Kaiser new grad program. Maybe you can try both and then pick the one you like most. Good Luck.

LAC+USC!!!!

The benefits of being a government (any govt--city, county, state, federal) employee are the BEST!!! If I had known then what I know now, I could retire TOMORROW (I'm 55) and collect about $66,000/yr. and could still work as a RN somewhere else.
