NICU's have a much larger staff than L&D due to our patient ratios, therefore we have more openings due to mat leaves, people leaving etc. To work in the NICU or L&D you will need to get your NRP certification (advanced level), also it would help to begin a perinatal/neonatal certificate program at a local college. My NICU will not hire unless you have a post-grad neonatal nursing certificate. Good luck!

hi everyone
becoming a labor and delivery nurse or possibly working in a nicu has been my dream for a long time now. I have decided I want to start nursing school and go for it. but realistically are there job out there . I'm from a small town with 2 near by hospital and a hour drive from a larger hospital. I have this fear that I will go through school and the jobs won't be out there for me. live near ottawa ontario if there is anyone out there with any info
thanks
