labeling clothing

Published

I am so tired of using sharpie's to write residents names on their clothing. I'm wondering what label machines you have used? I'd like one where the labels stay on the clothing well, yet are easy to remove if need be? And of course, the cheaper the better.

We have a business over here in australia which has stretchable iron on labels so perhaps you can surf the net. Sometimes though you have to buy so many it's just not worth it. I hate sewing the cotton ones on full stop. You might be able to find plain ones and use an indelible pencil ( if these are still around) or permanent markers

We also use iron on labels - we have a different color ribbon for each unit, and write on the label, it can be peeled off if necessary and rarely starts to fall off- which if it does, the CNA's are instructed to send them for relabeling., not perfect, but it works for now....

When a patient changes units, we change colors of the ribbon

We have a computer program. The resident's information in inputted, then printed out on a label which is affixed to the clothing using a high pressure press. The labels don't fall off even after multiple washings. It was expensive but we don't have as big a problem with lost clothes as we did before.

Nothing more undignified than walking down the hallway with your name in black marker on the inside collar of your shirt.
