LA county SON Spring 2015

Published

I know this is little early but I will be applying in July for Spring 2015... I'm finishing up Micro this semester and will have 86 points! Anyone else lurking that's going to apply to?? Say hi :)

Thank you for your response! I am well aware about the Financial Aid that is available in LAC. As of right now I'm really having a hard time making a decision. Both schools are really great. However, According from the reviews online (rate my professors, google review, all nurses , yelp ) LAC seems like a tough school to be in. How's your personal opinion about La County? as far as I know you attended the pre registration/orientation before. why LAC is your choice? What do you think is the greatest advantage of LAC that it offsets the Financial advantage of PCC? I know this is a lot to ask. but I'm really desperate for help. Thank Yo

Hi Brian,

Why I chose County? Well, the main reason is because I have a few W’s on my transcripts that are in my sciences from like 2002 and most schools still count those against me-county only counts the one’s in their 5 year recency. Also, when I did my clinicals at County for my LVN, I got the chance to meet a lot of excellent RN’s who were County grads and they all recommended their program trust them because I got to work with and learn a lot from them. The pre-registration will not WOW you because frankly, the campus is old and you don’t really go too much into detail. Bottom Line:Nursing school is tough anywhere you go. The reviews online can’t always be counted on because the people leaving reviews may not be as good a student as you are. Honestly, thinking like a nurse is a change of pace and some people can’t make the transition into “common sense” thinking for nurses. It’s different! I do hear that people who are A students, don’t get A’s at County, so your GPA may suffer a bit, if your planning on transferring to a UC, but again It’s hearsay… The only advice, I can give you is, what does your Gut tell you? Chances are that’s what you should doBest of Luck with whatever you decide, both are great choices.
