Hi! Could you guys share some insight regarding the Civil Service Interview for RN I position in LA County? :) I'm having an interview in a few weeks, and I don't have the slightest idea of what to expect. Replies are greatly appreciated. Thank y'all.:):redbeathe:nurse:

Hi, congratulations on having an upcoming interview with LA County. It is a very long process so it is good to get started. If you scroll down, you will see a post about LAC+USC. Many of us have been writing there about the county process. It is pretty similar no matter which hospital you initially interview with. My interview was at Harbor. This interview was very relaxed and helped me learn a lot about the process. Some tips: definitely bring photo copies of all your certifications and complete as many as you can before the interview! Also, try to think about where you would want to work before you go in. Good luck!

Thanks, I checked out the thread and I got so much information! Also, I was wondering since I'll be interviewing at Olive View, does it mean that's the only hospital I'd be able to get hired? I don't really know how the application process for LA County goes. :| Thanks RNTriathlete! :)

Once you pass the initial interview you will be placed on the eligibility list for all county hospitals. It seems to take about a month to receive the letter saying you are on the list. Once on the list you should call every week to see if there are openings. You call each hospital in county individually. The nurse recruiter will explain it all during your interview. Good luck!

Hello. I have my LA County Civil Service interview for RN 1 very soon. Can you give any pointers as to how I should prepare?

hello! the civil service interview is anywhere between 30min - 1hr and you will have a chance to ask any questions afterwards. Once you sign in, they inform you about the need for the interview to remain confidential and so you sign a waiver form. Thus, I am not allowed to discuss the actual questions that were asked, but let me assure you that if you have graduated from a nursing school, you should be able to answer the questions. :) It really helped that my interviewer was really nice and friendly. So, just relax, take a deep breath and make sure to ask some questions. Hope this helps~
