Hello! I am enjoying your posts and experiences as I too will be starting LPN school in April.
I have one question for you as it will help me understand whether or not we will have the same joys and frustrations. Did you have ANY medical or healthcare experience prior to starting LPN school or is this all completely new to you? If so, what background do you have?
I ask because I am nervous! I have a bit of background and I hope it helps.....if you have or do not have any experience it will help me to see your aspect on school a little better.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It means a lot to us soon-to-be students!! :bowingpur

Sorry for the delay in response.
I'm a former CNA. However, I haven't work in that capacity in 12 years. I worked my way through college the first time as a CNA in a nursing home. I also crossed trained for a short period of time as a phlebotomist. Again, that was probably 10 years ago. Other than that, no I don't have any other medical training. My bachelors degree is in an education field.
I have to say that 80% of my class are currently working as a CNA. However, I don't think it really makes a difference in an LPN class. Although they might understand a little more than you in some instances, it's not enough to really set you apart from the rest.
You will do just fine, don't worry. They teach you everything you need to know in an LPN class.
If I can be of any more assitance, please let me know.

I had NO background at all. I was a 17 year old homeschooled student and it seemed like everyone in the class had some sort background. They were CNA's or students that had failed out of RN school after the first year..so you can imagine how scared I was...but I did it and so can you :)
