KSU accelerated RN program Spring 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Ok, so I've kind of looked around the site, but I can't find what I'm looking for. I applied to the KSU accelerated nursing program for the Spring of 2012. Our applications, TEAS score, etc. already had to be turned in by May 31st. I was curious to know about how long they take to get back to you to let you know if you made it to the second round. I've got a 3.2 GPA right now, and I graduate from UGA in December with a BS in Psychology. I made a 91.3% overall score on the TEAS V. Does anyone have any idea about my chances of getting in? I took the TEAS without even taking A&P at all, but I'm taking it right now. Any advice if I do make it to the second round? I am CPR/First Aid certified and I have my CNA. Also, if anybody needs any advice about the TEAS, I'd be happy to answer some questions and tell you what I thought of it.

Thanks!

@ForHisGlory, how do we submit my background check?

ForHisGlory, Sorry I meant how do we submit the background check?* anyways, you made me checking to see if I missed somehing lol but there isn't a way to submit background check without completing the whole package and receive the chain of custody thing. I don't know but my advantage status says pending, did you receive anything from them? What does your status say?

hey proms

all you have to do is submit your information and submit your payment at the end. then they send you a thing for where to go get your drug test..which is the part you hold off on until after the first day. that way they can get started on your background check!

dont worry i'm sure you did everything you needed from the instructions in the pdf file ! :)

*thought you meant submit background check to her on the 15th lol* So Oh yea! I sure did everything needed lol you know how it is :D

@isabunny

I had like a 3.2 or 3.3 when I applied but I made a 91.3 on the TEAS. When I went to transfer orientation on Friday, Fran said you have to blow them away in one way or another. She said people with great TEAS and GPA will more than likely get an interview. People with 2.8 GPA and 93 TEAS will more than like like get an interview as well as a 3.9 GPA and a 80 TEAS. Basically you need at least one or the other to blow them away or just have both be pretty good. If you made an 80 TEAS and have a 2.8 GPA you may be in trouble. My GPA was not that competitive seeing that the average GPA to get in was over a 3.5 but my TEAS was a good bit above average.

@ Anyone going to orientation the 15th

Are y'all bringing anyone to orientation with you? Parents, husbands, whatever?

Yea you right about that UGAgal, I got in with 3.7 gpa and 76 teas score but I blew their mind on the interview. I nailed it! haha Anyone with an average stat should make sure they have volunteer experience, it saved me a lot on the interview. I was an icon on the interview, my interviewer said to me "you the reason ksu nursing school have a great rating in the state of GA" I came out knowing am already in.

I'm going to the orientation *super excited* but am not sure about bringing a companion....you should send an email to them and see what they say.

I wasn't sure. I just didn't want to be the only person without someone. lol. That's why I was trying to ask everyone.

just curious...the GPA that you all are mentioning is that your cum gpa or your prereq gpa? how do they weigh the two and which weighs more? Do they also look at the rigor and the classes you took into consideration for your overall gpa in your 1st degree? (prior to getting an interview)

@UGAgal lol I know exactly what you mean, anyhow am not going with anyone.

@danceluver I mentioned my cumulative: 3.7 my prereq gpa should be 4.0 because I only made like one B in Chem 2 and yea they pay more attention on how many A's and B's you made on the main prereq courses. That's all I know

Companion???? am I missing something? Isn't this our orientation for the program???

Orientation is not for husbands, wives, or parents....just you students.

Hi All!

Please attend orientation. It is assumed that it is mandatory and you will get lots of information given to you. The Student Nursing Association (SNA) about 30-35 students will be on hand to help with tours and answer any questions you have.

Please only bring yourself. You are being provided food and no one is planning for you to bring "companions"....this is an opportunity for you all to meet your class and become acclimated to school and the faculty. It will be a blur but we will try our best to make it as informative as possible.

I also recommend signing up for a mentor if you have not already. You will have the opportunity to sign up for one on Thurs as well as committees to become involved in the SNA.

Please bring cash or check...we will be selling some fun things that I am sure you will want to buy. There will also be some students selling their books for much cheaper than the bookstore if you are interested.

Welcome and we look forward to meeting all of you on Thursday!!
