KPU BPN May 2020

Published

Hi guys!

I can’t find much information online on other students’ experience applying for KPU BPN or rather their experiences in the program. I made this post in hopes to find others applying for this intake for an open discussion!

Some things I’d love to know is what GPA you applied with, where you’ve volunteered, and why you chose psychiatric nursing!

Feel free to also chime in with any other things you’d like to discuss!

I declared on January 10th with a GPA of 3.6, volunteered at BCMHA and loved it. I personally chose psychiatric nursing for my love of psychology and helping others heal and grow. I grew up with hospitality, compassion, and a strong curiosity for the way the mind works.

Can’t wait to hear from all of you!

Neither did I !! So upset

I don’t trust KPU anymore. I’m sure tons of students that didn’t get into BSN fall 2019 declared into BPN ... I’m shocked so many people (40) had gpas above 3.6 ....

Do you have any information? Student enrollment were no help. I wonder if seats will open up

I’m sure it’s because the ppl applying for BSN used BPN as their back up plan due to high GPA cutoff for BSN... I have no info either. Honestly I’m just so upset. I thought they’d at least open another intake as they’ve done it before.

What did student enrolment say?

Yes I’m really upset too. So ridiculous. I thought they would do something to avoid this outcome.... Kpu hasn’t said anything everyone I have spoken to has no info. Just waiting to get an email back from admissions....

Any word back from admissions?

They said there are no seats available and they will let me know if A seat does become available in the next few weeks.

So pretty much what the initial rejection email wrote.. ? I'm assuming the GPA cutoff was around 3.7 this intake..

I was beyond shocked to read that both of you didn't get in for this intake ?

Are you both going to reaaply and did they tell you what the GPA cut off what for the BPN program?

I feel as though it's not fair for BSN students to declare into BPN. They are not passionate about psych nursing and are only applying to secure a spot such a piss off.

oh well, I hope next intake is more lenient ?

Yeah, it was quite disappointing! They never let us know what the GPA cut-off was, unfortunately.

I actually ended up applying to BCIT immediately after being rejected from KPU and got into the BSN program, but I also reapplied to KPU’s BPN program before being noticed of my acceptance at BCIT.

It definitely sucks but it’s become quite common for people to apply for the BPN program for a shorter wait to get into the program. Same goes for Douglas ?

I will be reapplying

Thats really great ! If you don’t mind me asking what’s your GPA like ? And is your volunteer hours more that 30?
