KPU BPN May 2020

Hi guys!

I can’t find much information online on other students’ experience applying for KPU BPN or rather their experiences in the program. I made this post in hopes to find others applying for this intake for an open discussion!

Some things I’d love to know is what GPA you applied with, where you’ve volunteered, and why you chose psychiatric nursing!

Feel free to also chime in with any other things you’d like to discuss!

I declared on January 10th with a GPA of 3.6, volunteered at BCMHA and loved it. I personally chose psychiatric nursing for my love of psychology and helping others heal and grow. I grew up with hospitality, compassion, and a strong curiosity for the way the mind works.

Thanks for your post! I can’t find much info on this particular topic either. I declared also and have 3.5 GPA and have been volunteering at a mental health facility. Fingers crossed to here back from KPU soon. I have always been very interested in mental health and ways to help it.

Frustrating isn’t it!! I keep trying to find forums with other people’s experiences applying or even in the program itself but still not much at all! I really want to know when we’d hear back because I’m CONSTANTLY checking my email at all times of the day..

what info have you found so far?

Yeh super frustrating! It’s almost as if there’s been nobody in the the prior intakes lol!! The admissions have just told me to wait for an email ? . Obviously tons of hearsay about previous GPAs but an academic advisor told me that the last intake had a 3.2 gpa cut off so I felt like hmmm I should b okay with 3.5 but was hoping for higher.

im sure majority of people declared just before the deadline of Feb 1 and after December once transcripts were updated

I wish we had a ball park of when it would be ? Im sure if the GPA cutoff was 3.2 then we should be fine! Hopefully we find out within the next few weeks.. really wish they had more than one intake per year

Yeh I have seen posts on Facebook about 2018 intake finding out on feb 5th but last years intake found out on feb 15th. I’m anxious and don’t want to rush to get everything done prior to May but I guess this is how it’s going to go ...

What’d you search up to find those posts?? I totally understand what you mean.. I almost booked the BLS course yesterday until I told myself maybe I should wait for that email first haha

Search up things like Kwantlen BPN psych/psychiatric nursing. I believe it was posted onto the “Kwantlen faculty of health” page. There were a few comments

I emailed the admissions for BPN and it looks like we won’t be hearing back until at least the second week of March.
