Given a second chance, would you have chosen a different career path and if so what would it be?

Ideally, something business related or real estate agent...but we all know what the housing market is like right now (especially in Michigan) :uhoh21:

Specializes in PACU.

Still Nursing, warts and all. Others I'd consider if I HAD to change: PA, lawyer, psychologist, pilot.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

A baseball radio broadcaster would be my dream, ha ha. Other things I might enjoy, maybe speech, physical or occupational therapy.

I like to write, too, but I think I'd go crazy if I HAD to write to make money... would take a lot of the enjoyment out. Maybe I'll do something like that on the side...

I still might go back for one of ST/PT/OT, but whenever I think about it, I see how nursing goes for the whole person and those disciplines are so focused. If that makes any sense. I like being able to treat the whole person.

I wish I would have become a dental hygenist. I have a friend who is one, works Mon thru Thurs 10 hr shifts, no evenings, weekends or holidays. The real kick in the pants is that she makes more $$$ than I do. Such is life.

Specializes in Ante-Intra-Postpartum, Post Gyne.
If I'd had some slightly different opportunities...I'd love to be a coroner...but that requires med school and a lot of support and a lot of patience. I don't think I have that much. I hope that coroner training willl someday will be open to nurses.:nuke:

where I live the coroner is elected. The one that does it now has ZERO medical background but use to be a police officer. Medical examiners on the other hand.....
