Hello,
Does anyone have any info about Wellcare Georgia? I have an interview with them soon. I would like to know about the pros and cons to working there. In addition, the pay since I live in another state and I don't have any idea what is fare compensation.
They service Medicare and Medicaid clientele, and I would travel 25 Percent of the time to meet with the patient. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Do some research about Wellcare, seriously. A few years ago they were in trouble with the government - I know that sounds vague, but that's all I can remember. That's why I saw to do research on them. The other thing I know is that my BIL, who is an honest upstanding guy, was laid off twice when he was at Wellcare.
My personal opinion? Run far, far away!

Wellcare was in trouble for medicare fraud. I think that was about 5 yrs ago, so I am sure they have since cleaned house so to speak.
I can only speak very vaguely of Wellcare as a place to work. My husband works for a major ins company. He knows many co-workers who left to work at Wellcare (some nurses). It is split down the middle of those who loved it or really did not like it so left.
They pay very well here in Fl. That is one of the reasons why many people leave his company to work for them. Their benefits are not as good as his company but they are still pretty good. I have heard more positive from the nurses who left his company to work for Wellcare then the other positions. Plus some of the negatives came from people who have the "I am the best thing ever created and x company will go down without me" attitude.
I think the company is relativity new (at least they have not been in my area long). I think with any company you are going to have good and bad. But over all just with hear say I would think they are a good company to work for. The hours form my knowledge are Mon-Fri with no late nights. The pay is pretty good and they have good benefits.
Good luck.
I did see something about an investigation from a few years ago. Since they are still in business I would hope they are very careful and are doing the right thing now. I have been applying to case manager positions in Atlanta, GA and this is the only place that called me back. I am sure it has something to do with me living out of state.
I have only found info about this company in FL and KY and I really wish I could find how much Wellcare pays their nurses in GA. I won't consider relocating for low pay; although compensation is usually relative to the region. Thanks for the info Babyrntobe and Gatoraimslpn.
For all I know, my BIL is a very humble, standup guy and his face is in a constant smile. Pretty good guy to have on team I think.
They were in Grand Junction, CO when the idea of layoffs came up in his area. He decided to beat the bullet and moved to Tampa. Since he was the new guy and they were having trouble with fraud, he took a cut to a lower station. He was then laid off. Nothing to do with him. He did find more work, but was laid off when the economy tanked.
From what I know, I wouldn't work with Wellcare. JMHO though
