Know of ANY new grad positions in Houston, TX (Prefer North Side)

Published

I just graduated with a BSN from UT Health Science Center Houston. I had a really long commute during school so I'm crossing my fingers to find a position on the north side. Right now I would take just about any position at any pay rate. I've applied to just about every GN internship at every hospital on this side of 610. I haven't had any luck. I'll do med/surg, ICU, L&D, Post Partum, OR, NICU, Pedi, etc. Only thing I really DON'T want is ER. I'll work in Physician offices, private companies, anything.

I passed HESI with above recommended score. Taking NCLEX on June 10th. I'm ACLS and BLS certified. I have clinical experience at Memorial Hermann (TMC and Community Branches), St. Luke's, MD Anderson, Psychiatric Facilities, and Nursing Homes.

Before nursing school I was CNA certified and had another Bachelor's Degree from Sam Houston.

If you have ANY, and i do mean ANY, info that could help me get a job...please, please, please pass it along. School loans are coming in and I need work.

I am moving to the SE side of Houston next week. I do have my RN license from the State of NV but am also a new grad (DEC, 08). If I hear of anything while I am applying for positions I will let you know.

Do you know of a reasonable priced room that I can rent for approx one wk until I get settled?

Thanks for any info you can give to me.

I would just try a hotel that has weekly rates. You should be able to find something for a couple hundred. I think that'll be the most reasonable way to do it.

Specializes in Critical Care.

I graduated from a program on the north side that did clinicals at most of this area's hospitals, and half my class still doesn't have jobs (not for lack of trying).

Best of luck to you, but from what I've personally witnessed (including my own applications), it's "slim pickins in these here parts".

Specializes in LTACH, LTC, SKILLED, REHAB.

Healthsouth rehab hospital in the woodlands is actually hiring!!!!

Have you tried Harris County Hospital District? Specifically, LBJ hospital would be right up there at the north side of 610. I was hired last month as a new grad into a post-partum unit! That was through their RN Internship, but they might also hire new grads outside of the internship. Just a thought!
