KBCC Spring 2021 KINGSBOROUGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I recently transferred to KBCC and will be taking the TEAS exam in December. I'm registered to take Microbiology and Applied Physical Sciences for Allied Health Careers this fall. I'd like to connect with others who are on the same path this semester with the intention to form a support/study group. Present students are welcome also.

Hi. When you receive your class codes you will enroll in your classes. You do not choose your professor. Everything is done by the office and the ladies there are extremely overwhelmed with 100 incoming students every semester plus managing the currently enrolled students within the program. I believe they changed the uniform for clinical, but I am not sure. Upon acceptance you will be invited to an orientation where you will be told what is expected, retention criteria, uniforms etc. This is a very very stressful endeavor. When you have opportunities to be proactive and research ahead, definitely do so. I would look up the fall semester student handbook. Everything is on KCC website. The syllabi for all the courses are there as well.

Yes I looked at the syllabus and the handbook is outdated I was told its not anything like now ..? I’m just trying to get ahead and know what to expect and prepare myself. thats why I came on here what was your “uniform” ? Also, do we have a lot of books and stuff that we need to buy? I keep hearing mixed opinions.

I wear Cherokee scrubs. They just don't want you to have a drawstring waist band on the uniform. They will tell you what color you need after they accept you and send you the invite for the orientation. You can buy compliant scrubs from any medical uniform place. Unless the school tell you to go somewhere specific.  Books are virtual for the most part. You expenses include the virtual textbook about $250 and ATI which is about $250 I think. I don't recall exactly. You will have all this information from the school directly. As they update information for the incoming cohort, it will be more accurate. Anything Im sharing is from my experience and may not apply if they have decided to change things moving forward.

The FALL 2022 Handbook is on the website. I just pulled it up. All the most current info is there. ♥️

Get the help you need. This is not a program like regular courses at the college. Im a parent as well. I feel you. You will have to make it work. Study everyday and every moment you can. Do what you gotta do, get a babysitter, afterschool help, etc. It seems hard in the beginning, it only gets harder as you go. Get yourself in order so you can focus on school. It's not a fair program.

Its the same where ever you go. Make friends and work together. It's the best way to progress. You’ll be alright. Take it one day at a time. There are people here with 12 kids. Everyone is just trying to get by and pass. Work together.
