hello fellow nurses/nurses to be:
i just graduated and feel pretty good. i know i need to prepare by doing tons and tons of nclex questions. i am totally stuck on whether to do kaplan or not. from what i hear, it helps you to break apart the questions to help find the answer, not so much teaching content. i dont have the $ at all, but realize if it is truly worth it then the money doesn't matter in the big picture.
i want to know if you took kaplan- was it definetly worth it????????

Nothing is 100%, even kaplan-BUT, with that said--i think KAPLAN has the highest pass rate--most (90%) of my freinds that took kaplan passed-after they took it, --i was one day away from enrolling myself when i learned that i just passed..
I know its expensive, are you working now ?? if so many hospitals offer a "new grad" benefit, where the hospital pays for (or partially pays for) an NCLEX review course--our hospital gave us 200 bucks, (half the course cost)--
I did (2) courses, Hurst and lippincott--and in MY opinion, they where a waste of time and money--i spent ove 600 bucks for both. plus a dozen or soo big Ol' nursing books from borders AND paying the NCLEX 3 times AND pearson view--so im out about 2000 dollars.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU- !!!!! keep us posted

I didn't do Kaplan and passed the NCLEX the first time. I did buy some study guides and I think they helped. Good Luck!

I did Kaplan and I think that it really helped. I would say that questions on the NCLEX tend to be more like Kaplan questions than that of other review books I have seen. I have also studied both Saunders and Lippencott. Kaplan does help you to break the question down. Do you need to assess? Does the assessment answer make sense? What about Maslow's hierarchy of needs? Physical before psychosocial. Go with your ABC's. Airway, airway, airway!!! I took the test on Thursday and passed in 75 questions. Our class took Kaplan as a group, it was required and part of our school fees. So far 30 out of 39 have tested and all have passed the 1st time. We are hoping to be the first class with a 100% pass rate.
