Hey all!
I have a question. When I am doing Kaplan practice tests I do it one of two ways. I will either pick certain topics and focus on those or pick ALL topics and get random questions from every topic.
I'm scoring in the high 60s to 80 when I do all topics, but when I pick the individual tests in my weak areas, I'm getting mid to high 50s.
I'm taking the exam next week. Should I be concerned and post-pone it???
THANKS!

Take QT6 and QT7. If you score over 60 on those, there's an extremely high chance you will pass. This is according to the Kaplan instructors. Since that was the case for me and everyone else I know who took the course and passed NCLEX, then I tend to believe this to be the case. If you're having scores this high, I'm not sure why the worry? I rarely hear about people scoring in the 80s in Kaplan qbanks and high 50s isn't terrible. Honestly, I used to get scores in the high 40s and I still passed. Good luck.
Thank you for your response! I should have clarified that the 80 score is VERY rare. lol Mostly I'm getting in the 60s but an occasional high score. But again, that's when I do a Qbank w/ broad topics. My "focused" Qbank of my weak areas, I'm only scoring in the 50s.
If you're getting mostly in the 60s, you're doing well. If you're getting 60% and above you're at passing level. Again, 50's isn't terrible. All you have to do is focus on those areas when studying. Remember, all you need to pass NCLEX is to have a minimum of 60% of the upper level questions correct. Some people forget that...lol. If you use the same good test taking skills and strategies that yo have been using while doing the Kaplan questions, you should be fine when taking NCLEX.
Thank you!! That's encouraging and a great reminder.
I have such anxiety I hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot. I took the "Readiness Test" today and scored a 61.67%. I immediately rescheduled my NCLEX exam and on a whim I'm taking it tomorrow. I guess we shall see soon if that was a good idea or not.

I recently took the Kaplan course (in March) and I took my NCLEX in May and I passed :)
When I took QBank questions, my scores were in the mid 50 to mid 60, and the more I did I began to feel more comfortable. I took 99% of QBank questions.
On the QTrainers, I did a little worse, consistently mid 50 and one low 50 on one I took haphazardly.
Like I mentioned, the more questions I did I began to feel more comfortable. Most importantly, if you feel comfortable and can remain calm when you arrive and take your exam, then you will do better than if you second guess yourself. Maintain your confidence as much as you can and DONT study the day and night before!
My recommendation is not to postpone it. Keep us posted! Good luck!
Good advice!! I am trying to remain calm. I'm leaving in about 1 hr. I can't believe how anxious I am, though!! I was going to look at my pages just one last time on the way to the test center, but I agree w/ what you said and I think I'll leave them at home and just put some headphones in. :)
Thanks!!!
