hey i just moved to california from connecticut. i met with kaplan college about their lvn program and i just ned some feedback about your experience as a student or grad. i really need this help thanks:up:

I am in the Feb 09 class right now, getting ready to graduate in Feb '10 =)

Hi CaliTay,

I am starting the class Feb 10, Can you tell me about your experience etc. Genreal hours and all that? They said now it's 7-4, but another lady on this board months ago told me that mostly she was out of there by 3pm. Where do you do most of your clinicals and what are the general hours for that? Any advice or tips for me? Thank you!!!

C'mon....there has to be someone here giong to Kaplan!

Maybe you should read the paper this morning, lovely article about Kaplan Vista campus teacher getting arrested for sexually molesting students. I don't know what to tell you, Liberty Bell. I hope you haven't already signed on the dotted line. Don't mean to be a downer, and I apologize for not responding to your thread earlier. I don't know what else to say without lying to you or sugar coating anything. The bottom line is this, if you want to make it work, you will, regardless of any adversary or obstacles that present themselves to you during your schooling. Best of luck to you, sincerely. Nursing is an amazing field.

Hey there! I just wanted more specific information on what are the general hours like for class time, as well as the general hours for clincals. Where do you do your clinicals? What days if any do you get off? Are there any vacation weeks here and there off? What is the homework load like? Info like this. I know all the money info and all that but oriantation isn't until Feb so I know I'll learn more I just am curious about this.

Thanks for any response!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess im a newbie on this thread because the last one posted was may of 2008. I just inquired with Kaplan Vista and my first ever appt with them is this wednesday.. first step of the WHOLE process. I heard the proce was 30k+ .. how much upfront do they expect you to pay? Ugh. ANY info would be greatly appreciated. Im hoping to start the program next month but just like any other school is there an "entrance exam" to take and have to pass BEFORE being able to start the process of trying to get into the program?

WOW! im such a dork.. the last post date wasnt may 2008 that was actually the last posters join date. hehe

It all depends on what you qualify for with finacial aid through CA. I got around 4500 from CA grant. They let you do some school loans there. I also got 6k from MYCAA, it's for military spouses. I will still need to pay $400 to start. This is minus my CA grant and 6k from MyCAA. So if your not a military spouse you will probably need around $6400? I am just guessing though. Go apply for every grant you can and see what happens. You also need to pay for your background check and drug test, it's around $70. Also be CPR qualified, if not you'll have to pay for the class, it's around $30.

Also, start getting all your shots if you don't have them already. I had to get some titers today and they take about a week to get back from the lab.

thanks for the help. as far as the background checks go.. will you not be admitted into the program if youve been convicted of a misdemeanor (not a felony) 2 years ago even though youve paid off the fines, finished probation and have been cleared off. or are you automatically denied from every program in California?? :(

Contact Kaplan about that. They gave me a long sheet that listed everything you would be disqualified for when I registered with them.

Im thinking of going to kaplan in vista also. How do you like it? Anything i should know about the school? Im not really sure if i should go there or go somewhere else.
