Kaplan CD NCLEX-RN Practice test score

Published

What is a good score on the test on the Kaplan CD that is in the back of their NCLEX-RN review workbook? People have posted about scores on the Q trainers and Q bank but I'm not sure if the same score(s) apply for their CD (there is only one test with 180 questions).

And if someone out there has done the CD test, and has done the Q-Bank or Q trainers, are the questions similar, is the format similar?

I'm trying to decide if I want to pay for the Q-bank or Online Kaplan Course, or just stick with what I'm doing, which is Saunders Comp. Review book, Saunders app on the iTouch, Mosby apps on the iTouch, and the LaCharity book.

Thanks!

I don't know what is a good score either. I took it and got a 66 percent! If 50% is passing for NCLEX then great, but I don't know!

Maybe someone else can help us here!

Okay so I called Kaplan and found out that scores of 65 to 70 are considered a good score to base passing the Nclex on! Yea!

Well, I got a 68, so I guess that's good. But kinda cutting it close.

Did you ask specifically about the CD test? The book test says 70 or better is a good score, but the chapter questions (the new 2010 guide has a content review with 11 sets of 25 or so practice questions) in the book are super easy, so the book test might be easier than the CD test.

I did specifically ask about the CD and that is what he told me. He said my score was good for not having reviewed at all. I just finished with classes and have not started to review at all. So now I will work on the areas that I didn't score so well in. I guess it takes about 4 weeks from now for all the paper work to be processed before we can even sign up for the test. I don't think i am going to pay for any additional tools. What state are you in ? I am in Washington State.

Don't get too hung up on predictor tests. They give you a general guideline, which you probably can figure out for yourself based on your self assessment. The NCLEX is unpredictable, so people who do well on predictor tests fail just as people who do poorly, pass. Just make certain you make a good effort to prepare. Good luck.

Look around, I did buy the Kaplan course but didn't use the Qbank and the Q-trainers I paid for are the same ones I had found for a free download online.

Hi Pers,

Can you post the link. I looked around but could not find any and I would love to try them. Thanks Christine

Thanks Pers,

I can't post private messages yet but I received yours!! Thanks a million. I have been out of school since 1998 and looking to take it in September. Scared since it has been years. Christine

Hello, would you mind sending me the link also? I'm completing my practicum this month and would like to begin studying...thanks

I didn't provide a link because I don't actually have one and said as much in the pm I sent to the previous poster. I downloaded it months ago and no longer have that info. I did a google search after seeing the Kaplan trainers mentioned here and found it, when I later purchased Kaplan I checked the download against the trainers on their site and found they are the same.

There is a ton of material available online for anyone who looks. Google variations of Kaplan, NCLEX, RN, and question trainers along with anything else you are interested in finding. I found Saunders, Hurst, and tons of others as well--entire books as well as videos, mp3s, and practice questions.

If you can't find the question trainers as a download, check ebay or other resell sites as I know at one time Kaplan offered a cd so you might be able to pick it up relatively cheap.

I would also recommend searching blog sites as there are a number of blogs that are devoted to NCLEX study where the authors have compiled a lot of resources that are available for free as well. In my searches I recall coming across a couple of twitter feeds focusing on nursing and the NCLEX too if that's more your style. Alternatively, get with some other students and set up your own twitter study group--I think that would be a great way to study online, sending info back and forth in quick little bites.
