I just learned from a friend that Kaiser is laying 700 registered nurses in their northwest region.
The Portland vancouver are is about to be flooded with experienced RNs looking for work over the next several weeks.

That's a lot of out of work people. Very depressing.
Where did you hear this? I called my medical recruiter friend to confirm. They hadn't heard it yet and are making some calls to confirm.
I have several friends that work for Kaiser they received an email regarding this.
Simply amazing. I feel bad for them.

700 RN's? ALL RN's? That many RN's flooding the northwest! I'm in shock.
Can anyone else confirm this? I put some feelers out, and no one has heard of this. Odd that it didn't hit the news on the first day these emails were sent.
Yes, I have googled several times since then, and see nothing. However, there is a contract, from 2005 to October 2011, for all of the Northwest, it is due to expire. You can google it, but, I am not wanting to type all the info. I'm not sure that it even has anything to do with this "email". Perhaps?
Yeah, layoffs of this size do not go unreported. I think the OP jumped the gun on this.
I used to work for Kaiser, Kaiser layed off RNs last year without any announcement. I do not expect Kaiser to make a major announcements about nurse layoffs.
It's not that I would expect Kaiser to make an announcement, it's that I would expect at least a few of those 700 to contact a news station to get support for their cause. All it would take is one person out of 700. This is what I find hard to believe; that being, not one person has done it. I guess time will tell though.
