Kaiser New Grad Fall 2024 Cohort 10

Published

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to start a thread so we can all chat/update each other for the Kaiser New Grad- Fall Cohort 10 application which opens 04/26!

This has been a theory I have been trying to decipher... as an applicant I wanted to see what were the odds of me getting invited to interview without having Kaiser experiences.

Yet, it didn't make sense that some that only had a BLS and an RN License no anything with Kaiser would be invited to interview, and others who had been working for Kaiser or not... but had more certificates did not.

I poured my heart out on that cover letter, and hoping my stats are enough to be invited. But I still do not understand how they go through thousands of applicants and CL/LOR etc in just a few days. Given other programs take a few weeks.

Let's all stay positive and hope our application touched the right recruiter/manager and soon see an email with an invitation.

Are you positive that they had access to the application before anyone else?

My guess is they only go over the first few hundred or so applications.

I guess they don't even look at it since so many QUALIFIED applicants.. they just randomly pull from the pool like a lottery... what I heard was that they got 3K+ applicants last cohort, which they only invite 200 ppl to interview... and of cuz I didn't get invite haha

Im sure they do~ cuz as an internal candidate, I received tons of notification saying the cohort application is open (like a week or two before the public open period). When I clicked in, the link was no longer exists.. it's like a link for a certain accounts that I couldnt even access into it.

I know right?! I got all the certs and course that they ask for, graduated this year with 3.7, did externship and also work there for like 9 years, I got my LVN license too, I had no idea what stopped me from just getting an interview... BTW, this is my second time applying alrdy... Im gonna quit my LVN there if I don't make it this time.. there is no point to wait for another cohort with such unclear process..

Were you licensed the first time around? Like at the time of your application?

I know it is so competitive and then a lot of out of state/not bay area residents apply as well. I know it's hard... after so many rejections (myself) or waiting game for other new grad programs it is insanely overwhelming. I hope this time around it works out for you!

I also received that notification. Additionally, all the nurses I met at KP, who came as a new grad, were in their early thirties; no one was older than 30. Maybe age is a factor as well.

Oh I don't know anything about that... it was someone else who commented about people having access earlier. On these posts I read it didn't say anything about someone having access earlier.

yeah I know.. they pay really low outside of hospital~ I got an offer like $55. I will start it anyway since I cant wait like forever.. its been almost half year after I graduated.

geez.. Im in 30s... guess they don't like my out-of-state BSN program haha

wow, I thought they prioritized patient care experience and KP employees. But yeah what are we supposed to do if we can't get into a new grad program.

I'm internal too. I saw all those postings and immediately clicked on them but they weren't available anymore. I've had 10 years LVN experience with direct patient care and am internal. I truly don't know what their application process is and the union we're in can't do anything either to help cause the RNs are in a different union 😭😭😭

It's just too much going on behind this program, lots of connections between schools and those who in charge I guess? Someone even mentioned about West Coast Uni from LA region getting special links.. AND someone from last cohort mentioned that they r trying to push ppl from SCAL to here and ppl here to SCAL?! IDK WHY! but it's just so suspicious on how the selection process work... To me, ppl like u who got 10 yrs LVN exp and internal should definitely, AT LEAST, get a chance to INTERVIEW right?!?!?!

FYI, I heard couple internal LVNs who work in ER didn't get a chance to interview from last cohort too. smh~

I know for certain that they do not review every single cover letter, transcript, or resume until you are invited for an interview. HR relies on the career snapshot, and I am aware that there are hundreds, possibly thousands, of applicants with all the required certifications, RN licenses, and high GPAs who are Kaiser employees. For internal postings, leadership and hiring managers receive a list and proceed from there, prioritizing seniority. However, with the new grad program being open to the public, the selection process is less clear, allowing them to choose candidates more freely. I have a friend who has everything and she applied to last cohort and this cohort and she has been with Kaiser for over 20 years. I am not putting all my hope into this program and will be looking further for other job opportunities. It is unfortunate that Kaiser employees whom put in years of service cant even get an opportunity to interview and move up in their career so they can stay employed with same company they have invested their years into. I mean any normal person in the same situation would feel like this is a slap in the face.

Exactly, that was how I felt it when I received the rejection email last cohort. When I emailed them see what else I needed to improve to get to the interview... they just told me to apply for patient care tech...at that point, I really felt that I wasted so many year in a WRONG company. At least, it was not the same company that I used to feel like second home..
