Interview is a group interview-- mine had 5 or 6 interviewees and one interviewer. KP gives you a rubric a few weeks in advance to create a powerpoint presentation answering the rubric questions and you have 10 minutes to present followed by a question or two from the interviewer. It was through a Microsoft Teams remote meeting. I wasn't asked a question but some people were asked simple behavioral style questions such as "tell me about a time you had to delegate a task" or something like that. No case studies/scenarios. I fit two different patient experiences into my presentation so I sort of answered anything like that in advance which is why they didn't have a question for me, I think. Happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Oh my gosh, Lone_purple, thank you so much! That is so helpful. 🙂 I heard this time they are not doing presentation though, so I wonder what their format will be? Maybe more individual questions, behavioral and/or clinical questions. Would you mind sharing the rubric they gave you? My email is [email protected]. Or if you don't have it, do you remember what it consisted of? I'm trying to visualize...

Oh okay-- well the rubric won't be much help then probably. I don't have the document but I remember it was based on 4 sections: Introduction (about 1 minute), past experience (3 min), highlights from nursing journey (3 min), purpose (3 min). Purpose is just about what you want to do in the future as a nurse and why you want to work at KP. I built my presentation based on the highest scores you could get according to rubric which really emphasized giving clear and specific examples of experiences. So when I did the portion on my nursing journey, I made sure I included specific patient experiences that showed my strengths and weaknesses and how I've progressed from a student to a more ready-to-work RN. When I talked about my purpose, I mentioned that I want to achieve further certs and participate in unit committees and possibly precept or charge in the future.

It's okay to mention that you are interested in going to specialties like ICU in future but you should not emphasize it...this is a Medsurg/Tele position and they don't want to hear that you're trying to transfer in 6 mo or a year; For one, it's not realistic, KP only does internal training like that based off seniority so it could take longer. But stay sort of focused on the actual role of an RN in medsurg/Tele when you talk about your future ambitions. For me, I always wanted to do emergency, but I didn't mention that and instead just talked about learning to be a competent nurse and establishing a strong foundational practice.
