After you receive your NPI # you have to apply for your Medicaid provider number. You can go to www.eMedNY.org to apply for that number. To find cases you can go to craigslist or find them by word of mouth.

I thought you could use your NPI # for both Medicare and Medicaid now? Am I wrong?
No the NPI is a provider identifier but the Medicaid number is issued by Medicaid so that a nurse can provide nursing services and so that you can also bill them for your services. I just received my Medicaid number last week. If you haven't applied for your Medicaid provider number, you should do so ASAP so that you can get it back faster. It can take up to 6 weeks to get it. Good luck and keep me posted.
I just go to emedny and the app is online?
Yes you can go to emedny.org and apply online but it is a long and confusing process to do alone, but it is do-able. I did mine through an agency and they did all the paperwork for me. If you are going to apply on your own just read it carefully and make sure you call them if you have any questions so you do not make any mistakes and so that you can get your application processed quickly. If you have any questions to ask me feel free, I am more than happy to answer.
