Unless you were charged as an adult, juvenile records can be sealed (contrary to belief you need to get the record sealed yourself it doesn't magically happen when you turn 18). Call your local courthouse or parole board. I don't see how one minor infraction from 20 years ago when you were a minor will suddenly become a problem if it hasn't been prior. Also most back ground checks only go back so far.
Looks like you're in California? If that is the case then your juvenile record can be sealed, and would not be able to be seen on a background check, so you would be fine for clinicals. Now if you were tried in adult court for this charge then you would have to disclose it to the BON but I doubt the charge would come up on your background for clinical. So, in my experience ( criminal record in Cali) you will be fine for clinical and won't have a problem with the license either.
.This is not a question for nurses. Why would you put yourself through nursing school, wondering if you will be denied clinical placement, or BON licensure?Only an attorney can answer this.
Best wishes.
Actually she doesn't need an attorney. If she is in Cali, her juvenile record cannot be used against her.
