Just wanted to say Hello

My name's Pete, and I just got accepted to the ADN program at Northampton CC. I start clinicals in Jan. For the past two years I've been taking all the Gen Ed courses, and I have only Micro and a Philosophy course left to complete. Plan to do those in Summer. I'm 45 yrs old and work full time. I'm in the nights and weekends program offered at NCC.

I'm and EMT, and I spent 5 years as a Army medic. I'm really looking forward to the clinical program, and I was wondering if anyone else here was already in the program at NCC, or a recent grad. Just looking to get a heads up from you, words of wisdom, and all that.

I've been lurking here for a week or so, lots of good general info, and it's interesting to read some of the complaints and "inside baseball" stuff about the job.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.

HI PeteMac,

I am also in the Night/Weekend Program at NCC (January start). Looks like we're classmates! Are you in the Monday or Wednesday night lab?

I am 37, married and have a 2yo daughter. I still have A&P2 (spring2004), Ethics & Morals, and Dev. Psych. Also planning on taking them in the summer.

We are moving to Bethlehem on Tuesday (currently live in NJ). Can't wait to get started in January. It is so exciting.

My medical background is as a Unit Clerk and a Vet. Tech (both ions(sp?) ago).

Look forward to meeting you!

Hi Sue,

I've got the Mon nite lab. I'm just finishing up A&PII this semester. So you're the next one to flee Jersey huh? Good move, thats a tough place to live, crowded, expensive, etc... Congratulations on gettin' in! Look forward to seeing you.

Pete

Welcome aboard, Pete!

I'll be starting clinicals in September at RACC. Just got all the vaccines this weekend. Finishing up A / P I. Only other pre-req is A / P II, which starts in January. (Give me a few tips for II.)

I've been a volunteer in our local hospital ED, and will soon be working as a clinical assistant in another medical center (first paying healthcare position).

Going through the career-change thing like many others here.

:chuckle

Can't wait to change my avatar tomorrow (ooh, later today after the closing)!!!

Where in Jersey did you grow up? I grew up in Cedar Grove (near Montclair).

Lived in Manhattan till the 6th grade.

Then moved to north Jersey suburbs (Teaneck). Then to Hudson County (went to North Bergen H.S.). Got married and moved to North Arlington. Later moved to Plainfield (and the most beautiful house we'll ever own!).

Then onto Berks County, PA.

While growing up in the Garden State, I played guitar and sang in a pop band (doing a lot of Beatles cover tunes) and got the chance to perform throughout the state -- West Orange, Orange, West New York, Jersey City, Hoboken, Lodi, Paramus, New Brunswick, Asbury Park, Belmar, Seaside Park, etc. -- basically all over the place.

One big thing: Don't think PA pizza, Italian food or bakery / deli goodies can come even close to the fabulous stuff available in NJ and NY. (OK folks, the flame shield is securely in place now! :) )
