Here I sit surfing the allnurses site, studying for my next quiz, typing up my teaching plan and last but not least trying to read for my next lecture. I look at my cell phone and notice that I have missed a call and have a new voice message. Its form a long distance number I don't recognize. So I listened to the message and discover they are calling me to notify I won a prize form some contest I entered in back in December! They asked if I even remembered it (uh ya right, I am in nursing school trying to pass my finals, sure I will remember!). I told them no I didn't recall. They informed me I won a rhinestone horseshoe shaped dog charm! I don't even own a dog! I guess its worth about $130. So I am either going to be wearing a dog charm or this poor nursing student might have an extra $130 bucks to spend on NCLEX books after she sells on ebay! :rotfl:

Congrats! Winning things is so fun - I can relate to the excitement, I won a Jeep back in 2003! :)

and you too, Manna!!!
Wow, that's impressive, congratulations!!!! I can imagine that was incredibly exciting!!!
Unfortunately, telemarketers having taken the "fun" out of "winning" things for me. I've won so many "free" vacations, magazine subscriptions, etc. -- "we just need your CC # so we can charge the shipping fee" or whatever fee they come up with. No, no thank you. I don't give out my CC # to people who I've never heard of call me on the phone and tell me I've won something :). Drivers License #s, SS #s, CC#s--sorry, no can do.

I am sorry it has gotten to be this way for you NurseFirst. When I called them I too thought it might be a scam and was more than ready to hang up if they had asked for anything like that, but all they wanted to do was confirm the address and ask which color I wanted. My mom is an avid sweepstakes person. She just won a week long trip to switzerland! So even though there are many out there who are running scams sometimes there really is a legitimate contest! But thanks for the congratz, and a huge (late) congratz to manna on her car! :balloons:
