After a few weeks of getting my ducks in a row I'm all set to get started. Anyone else just starting? I could use having a support group if anyone else is in the beginning stages Also for my experienced pros, anyone willing to share a list of the main text books they used? Waiting on my Studygroup 101 CDs to get here, will be purchasing the pratice exams and a friend who finished a few years back is willing to let me borrow whatever I think I can use. She saved everything. I know there is a TON of suggested reading in the content guides so if anyone could share the few they really thought helpful that would be GREAT:dncgbby:.....Oh and I just loved the dancing baby so I had to throw that in there:lol2:

Hello,
I have just scheduled my first exam Dec 15th. It is one of my Humanities (World Religion), I want to try and schedule another exam before the New Year is here. Either Transitions or Health Safety. I would be happy to correspond with you. I have been a LPN for 25 years, have worked in all fields of work. I have worked Emergency Room 12 years, I took a little break but came back to the ER. I am going to have to pay for my exams as I take them. I just cant go into more debt at this time. I live in Morehead, Ky.

Hello! I just started in late September, studying for Transitions. I rented the suggested textbooks listed in the study guide and have taken the first part of the practice test and will say the recommended reading was correct. Hope this helps.
Thanks! I'll try to keep up with both of you as we go

I am an Excelsior grad and I graduated in 2010. I did not buy any textbooks. I got a basic nursing assessment book from the thrift store for $3.00 and I downloaded all of my study material from the internet. Many large universities don't block general content from courses and you can find alot of info this way. Flashcardexchange.com helped me to get A's & B's on 95% of my exams. I also search the yahoo study groups for other EC students. I belonged to about 7 yahoo groups and shared study information with other students. This is how I found study buddies and more than enough information to study. I also took the practice exams. I didn't discover this until after I had graduated but Youtube has class lecture videos on whatever you are studying. There are lectures from colleges everywhere that you can use to learn the material that you need to know to make good grades on the exams. Good Luck. Excelsior is a great school and you learn alot more from independent study than you do in a brick and mortar school.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the titles of recommnded reading materials. Also, where do you rent books?
Thank you!
