THANKS! We are only allowed to take the test once a year. BUT.... We are also scored on a point system. I had heard through the grapevine that they only look @ the math and the reading comp. portion, and if your math is low they make u take a math course over the summer. If thats the case i may be fine!! i scored 79% on the reading comp but only 33% in the math. UGH!!! I just feel very defeated:0(
Well, my GPA was just a little above 3.5 and I made a 60 something percent on my TEAS (which by the way is no indicator of what your science skills are I failed the math 'cause I ran out of time).
AND GUESS WHAT? I GOT INTO A SCHOOL THAT ALL THE RESPONSES TO MY GRADES TOLD ME I WOULDN'T GET INTO!
If you need to, go ahead and retake the TEAS and reapply. If that doesn't work, retake the science classes you'd like to get a better grade in or do it in the meantime. (Although I think you can only do this one time now.) Lastly, have a second game plan. I'm in a nursing program and ppl still fail out once they're in. God forbid I don't make it through all 2 years. I'm gonna say **** IT and do photojournalism like I always wanted to, or try and get in the dental program, although i'm sick and tired of programs you have to "try" and get into, even though I got in the first time I applied.
GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!
Kudos to you for jumping in! Now you know what the TEAS is like. I recommend buying a TEAS study guide -- there are several out there, and some of them allow you to test yourself a few times. Target your problem areas -- like math? You said your score was low there. Might want to take a refresher course in math to brush up those skills. You will need them when you're doing dosages, anyway. It will just make you a better nurse. :)
Also, you might want to take a study skills class. I took one just for the easy unit, but my grades have been all A's and B's ever since. (I wish I'd taken that class when I first started college -- would have saved me a lot of time and anxiety, not to mention poorer grades!) This class will also cover test-taking strategies, a BIG help to learn how to manage your time during a test so you finish it.
Don't despair -- you're already doing the most important job in the world: mothering your children. Fit in school as you can, get study helps, and keep going for it. You are a wonderful example for your children in doing so. Good luck to you! :)

HI everyone! I recently took the TEAS, and needless to say I feel like I bombed it! I thought I studied very hard. I guess it was not goood enough! This is a relatively new test to my school, so the instructors are unsure of their "accepting score." All we were told is that the national average is 65% and that they are taking anything from a 63-65%. WELL.... I made a 54%. I have been out of school for the past 8 years and just decided last Sept. that I wanted to go back to school. I am VERY disapointed with myself right now. The only bright side is; is that I have brought my GPA up from a 1.0 to a 3.5!!! I have 2 small children and I quit my job of 8 1/2 years to go back to school. I am just looking for some words of wisdom from some of you who have "been there and done that!" Thank you!! Anything can help at this point!
