I just graduated as a GPN, am awaiting my ATT in order to take the NCLEX. I have put in applications everywhere and cannot get a job! What am I doing wrong? I dress up to pick up applications, because the first one I picked up, they pulled me in for an interview right there, but I have not heard back from them. We had approximately 60 in our graduating class and I think I waited too long to start looking for a job. I begin RN school next month, I need a job in order to be able to afford to continue school.........can anyone give me some pointers that will help me to stand out to employers? Any pointers on how to finesse them into giving me a job? Any help would be greatly appreciated...............

First off, congratulations on graduating! I am sure you will have your ATT soon and be on your way to passing the NCLEX.
One thing I found when I was a GPN....it is really difficult to find a position working as a GPN. Most LTC facilities I talked to wanted to hire me as a CNA until I passed my boards. I finally did find a place that would allow me to work as a GPN, but I was very limited as far as what I could and could not do.
Keep putting in apps and sending out resumes. You may get interviews and no offers until after you test, just be patient, the jobs will come to you.
Best of luck to you!

When I graduated (1983) you could get a job as a graduate nurse until you got the boards results.......boards were only done twice a year back then and the wait for the results was long.
Now, you cannot work as a GN or GPN.....at least in my state. My facility will interview new grads, but until you've got the license.....
