my Health Assessment has only this to say about tinnitus:
- the sound originates within the person, tinnitus accompanies some hearing loss or ear disorder, it seems louder at night, and that many medications have ototoxic sequelae: aspirin, aminoglycosides (streptomycin, gentamycin, kanamycin, neomycin), ethacrynic acid, furosemide, indomethacin, naproxen, quinine, vancomycin.
Sure do hope you get some answers & would be interested hear what works.
You should be checked ASAP by an otologist -- or at least a good ENT. Diseases/injury of the inner ear are not all that common and most people in health care know little about them.
If you tinnitus came on suddenly, with the fall, you may have damaged your inner ear and might respond to surgery if it is done promptly enough. While I did not have an injury to my inner ear, that possibility was considered when I suddenly lost all the hearing and balance in one ear and developed tinnitus. Because there was no reasonable chance of an injury, my otologist and I decided against surgery.
The sudden death of my inner ear (perfectly normal functioning to zero within about 10 seconds) was probably due to an otherwise assymptomatic viral infection. My condition was/is permanent, but if yours was caused by structural damage from the fall, then surgery might help. But speed is of the essence.
Get yourself to someone who specializes in diseases/injury of the inner ear ASAP.

I noticed tinnitus about 6 months after my last child. Had all the hearing tests by a ONT guy. My hearing is good. There is no real fix for tinnitus. I've been a member of a tinnitus board and read new updates but still, besides masking or learning to live with it, there isn't much else to do.
I've kind of gotten used to it . .. of course I can hear it now since the subject was brought up.

I have had this off and on but an ear cleaning and shot of steroids fixed me up. After I had a fall on my rear end..quite a jar..that night ringing started with a vengeance. Usual remedy from ENT didn't work and he said he had no other options. I am going to an MD tomorrow to seek poss. medical explanation.Any help out there?
