Any potential new friends/study buddies out there?

I got an email from the school. They said it was tentative schedule. Now I am not sure if you have to go to clinical on both days or not.

Has anyone received their orientation packet yet?

No orientation packet yet. I was told the first week it December it would be sent out. In the meantime I can't wait to know our schedule so I can plan!!!

I talked to admin the other day, they said they were sending them out this week. I didn't get it yet, I am concerned because I don't own a car and I want to figure out if that is something I need, if my clinicals are all over the valley I may get one. The other thing that was strange is when she said I could work on weekends, I said well I need to work out my 40 hours, she said that is not recommended.

I don't know about most people, but I must work 40 hours to maintain health insurance. Hopefully we hear from the school soon, I am looking forward to going back to school, it has been over 5 years now for me.

I hadn't received mine as of Friday but I'm out of state so it might take longer.

I will also have to resume working soon after school starts but am also worried how to do this. If school takes up four full week days and we still have to work, when do we study??? I'm concerned about this.

I just don't know why it is 4 full time days. I don't know how I am going to focus in a class for 8 hours 2 days back to back each week. When I was working on my bachelors degree I took 15-20 credits a semester and never put in that amount of time. At least it will be almost over by the time we start. I may take out extra student loans so I can quit my job last semester to prep for the NCLEX and still take classes.

Any advice on where to look for student loans? I did the FAFSA, got a Stafford loan but will need a lot more for living expenses. Apparently getting student loans isn't as easy as I thought...apparently all student loans have to go through your school and there is a cap on who much you can borrow. And the Financial Aid office isn't much help...bascially they are only there to faciliate and disburse the Stafford money.

I finally got my orientation packet. The semester is not that bad, I think it is going to be very manageable for the first part of the year. The good thing is that we don't have to go 4 days a week every week. My work is making us do 10 hours of mandatory overtime in the first quarter. So I was relieved when I saw the schedule.

I also thought the schedule looked very manageable, especially in the beginning. We're lucky this semester; we have two holidays in the beginning plus spring break. Hopefully the other semesters aren't worse.

So are you doing anything in particular to get ready for school and prepare for all this?? I don't know what I don't know so I have no idea how to prepare!

I don't really know what to do to prepare. The only thing I have been doing is applying for scholarships to see what kind of financial assistance is available out there.

I am concerned because it has been over 5 years since I last took a class, so I will probably need to look through anatomy and physiology books.

Does anyone know when the health forms are due, I have them complete but don't know when I should turn them in.

Also does that school have WiFi? And can we use computers in class to take notes.

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

Yes the school has Wifi. We were able to use our computers to take notes.
