Just got into a nursing program

Yes, I feel the 8.5 credit nursing classes are much more difficult than the prereq 3-4 credit courses. That said, the difficulty stems from the amount of work in such a short period of time that needs to get done (I'm in an ADN program) It's doable, if you really want this and keep that at the forefront. I would suggest trying to get a reading list over the summer, or at the very least, just start reading a fundamentals of nursing textbook to get some background. We use Kozier's in my program and it's a great starting point.

I'm going to start my nursing program at Loma linda this spring. I wanted to know how the transition was and if the program is a lot harder than the prerequisite courses you had to take to get in. The reason i ask is because i want to become a crna and i know how competetive that is and i wanted to know how hard it would be to maintain a high gpa.

Nursing school is a whole different ball game than prerequisites. You learn critical thinking and everything builds on what you learn. It depends on how hard you're willing to work and how well you study. I know I'm doing well in OB without trying too much (it all just seems to click and make sense for me) but I'm going to spend all of my spring break studying for my second Med-Surg exam. Nursing school is what you make of it. I know sometimes I go back and forth saying that I hate it but I really like learning about disease processes and tx and interventions. My classes are 5 and 7 credits for each course. It is a loty of work but it can be done.

i'm not gonna lie, i was so shocked my first week of nursing school that i cried, and said to myself that i was going to drop out. we weren't even in clinicals. i was just in sheer shock of the amount of work and not being used to such stress, but everything is all good now... or as good as it can get, lol.

there have been so many times where i felt like i wanted to quit, but i look back and i'm so glad i didn't and i feel proud of myself for getting through 1st semester, and through med/surg I.
