Just got a job at Wolfson Children's in JAX...relocation help needed!

Published

Hello,

I just accepted a position at Wolfson Children's Hospital. I currently live in Indianapolis and will be relocating to JAX in August. I was wondering if anyone has any help they could offer me on my move. Where to live? Does anyone know if they offer relocation assisstance?

I'm wanting to be as close as possible to the beach. Budget around 800, 1 bedroom, and obviously as safe as possible. The manager told me about some of the beach areas, the southside, and the town center? Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks so much!!

Hi, Jax native here, but have lived all over the US and actually considered Indy for a while. Anyway, I'd be happy to help you out with relocation help. Shoot me a PM. No fee. :-)

Oh, and congrats on the job--they're hard to come by around here lately.

Actually there are some apartment near the hospital that are good price and in a good neighborhood in San Marco. There is one that is one block from the hospital.

San Marco though does tend to flood(some parts) when it rains too too hard.

For 800 a month you will able to afford a really decent place in a safe neighborhood. Baymeadows for sure! Plus its close to the highway so the dive isn't far. The beaches is going to be a really really far drive, so I wouldn't suggest it. Towncenter is going to be about a 30 min plus drive.

Welcome to the Baptist Team and Jacksonville! Congrats on the job. Like Kate stated they are hard to come by. Especially at Wolfson.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm excited to start a new chapter in my life. I was wondering if you guys know if baptist offers any relocation assisstance. And also, if there is an employee classified board or something along those lines. I would really like to have a room mate, but a quality one is hard to come by. So I thought that may be the route to go. Thanks so much!

P.S. I've been looking on craigslist for places near the beach and have found a few in my price range. Planning another trip in July to check out neighborhoods and what not. Oh and I don't mind the drive. I used to commute 2 hrs both ways to work. So I could definately handle 30-45 min to live on the beach :) Thanks again!!!!

The relocation assistance, I am not sure that Baptist offers that. I know that they used to but I don't know about now. your best bet would be to call human resources. (904) 202-2000 is the main line to Baptist.

At Baptist we do have our own little classified section on the website but you have to log in as an employee to see it. I can pm the info that is on there now of other employees looking for room mates or places for rent.

Hello and welcome to the Baptist family!!! I can't answer your question of where to live as I do not live in Duval County. I would think that if they were going to offer relocation assistance that it would have been included in your offer letter. You should contact HR and ask them. Once you get inprocessed and go through orientation you will be able to access the employee website. There is a section where e-classifieds are placed. Also, each month we get a magazine that is for Baptist employees. On the back there are classifieds, some are people looking for roomates.

We were typing the same info at the same time :wink2:

If you could PM me the info I would really appreciate it! Although, I have no idea how the PM thing works???

It looks like you have lots of help, but I wanted to pop in and congratulate you on getting on with Wolfson's! I've worked at Baptist as a tech for awhile and actually just took my NCLEX today and Wolfson's is my #1 dream hospital. I hope that you love it there!

I just saw your post. Thanks for the encouragement! How was the NCLEX? I hope it all turned out well for you!!
